I do not want Copilot to do anything with the things I write. I do not want it popping up and giving suggestions or anything like that. Is there any advantage to keeping M365 with copilot before I go and change plans? NCBootMan

Thanks Brian. Yes. Only I can ultimately answer that question. I will attempt to go back and read the previous topics. I’m a user of e-mail and Word when I have to use it for a docx file. But, in no way am I a power user and don’t really need to be at this point. ? ?

Based on my experience with using Office with Copilot, I’ve never encountered a situation where Copilot appeared unexpectedly making suggestions. Also, it will never make changes to your documents on its own. You have to initiate Copilot
for any changes to be made.

use copilot to rewrite and format my stuff. I don't love the fact
that? the write prompt won't replace the text but place it below.
There is no replace button as far as I can see, but so far I often
love the replacements.

That is great to know. So, if not for writing, is there some wow factor that might make me want to pay an additional $30? I’m not trying to be difficult. I realize that I can learn a lot more but need to get excited or decide to just not bother. Excitement is good. ? ?

I personally value its ability to rewrite a document or a section of a document in a different writing style. However, you could choose to downgrade to the classic plan and use the free Copilot service to
do that by pasting in the relevant text of the document, ask for a rewrite according to your preferred style and then paste the rewritten text into your document.
When I asked the free Copilot about size limits, it responded by saying that it can work with text blocks of up to a few thousand characters, so if you need to work with larger documents having Copilot integrated
into Office might be beneficial. This doesn’t even cover what you could do with Copilot integrated in Excel or PowerPoint but these are things I have yet to explore.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm old enough to remember Clippy, but like many, my first instinct is also to look for the "No, and never ask me anything ever again" button :)? I too am trying to rethink that and look at where I might get value out of using Copilot (or Chat GPT or deep seek or any of them.? A good friend of mine is quite into AI and has tried to encourage me as well and I still struggle (and Office telling me I can only ask it 60 questions a month really actually only makes my reaction "Oh, well I'll save them in case I need them!" - and yes, I appreciate the absurdity of that on the 29th of the month, when I'm unlikely to run into an "only AI can solve this" PC emergency in the next two days when I don't even know what I might use it?for! *grin*
