Re: Using the Translation Tool in Microsoft Word (and other Office Suite programs more broadly, but this tutorial focuses on Word)
开云体育Oh I've used google translate. It for me is a lot slower for what ever reason, it feels cluttered for my brain. I often need to translate text into Spanish for my students and past it into Skype for them, google translate is a bit slower so I either use the nvda add on I have or they just translate themselves later. I don't trust my written Spanish to do that by hand. Thanks. I'll keep playing with this. On 1/9/2025 8:52 AM, Παναγι?τη?

Re: Using the Translation Tool in Microsoft Word (and other Office Suite programs more broadly, but this tutorial focuses on Word)
开云体育Hi Sarah/all, I played with google.translate.com translating a text from Greek into Hungarian and worked very well for me. The only inconvenience was that jaws would not indicate it selected the “document” button and I only discovered this by tabbing to the browse button. Otherwise I quite liked the process, though I cannot comment on accuracy for a rather dirty horoscope text, used for fun. But the translated document also appeared on my braille display. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Take care, ???????????????????????????????????????????? Takis ? Indeed, very handy.? For myself, though, particularly if I want to determine what a keyboard shortcut/accelerator key sequence is for something in any Office Suite program, I have found web searching on something like, "Word keyboard shortcut close navigation pane," or similar to often get that information far more directly than other methods in Office Help/Search.

I said the following yesterday in message #9733, "now that the age of AI searches are upon us, we all need to start using them more to find obscure information, which they are absolutely great at doing."? My current favorite, subject to change at this early stage, is perplexity.ai.? But I would never have arrived at the answer I found even after days of regular web searching or using built-in help/search functionality in Word.? AI searches are becoming by far and away the most direct route to obscure information.? That's because they are miraculously good at looking through "everything" that's ever been written surrounding what you're asking about and also doing a mighty fine job of ferreting out what the questioner is really asking in a natural language question.? It's not perfect, nothing is, but the degree to which AI searches have improved and continue improving is just jaw-dropping.

In other words, I have 2 calendar folders and 2 contact folders.? The folders without the “this computer only” are my active calendar/contacts; they were transferred or imported from use on other devices.? The folders labeled “this computer only,” have basically no content; 1 contact and 2 appointments; they were accidentally corrected, and I chose not to delete them or the folder.? In my case anyway, knowing all of this has been helpful, so that I can ensure I am using the proper folder.? Sometimes, when I go to the calendar or contacts, focus is on the default folders, “this computer only,” and that is how I accidently created the contact/appointments in the wrong folder.? Until I figured this out, it would freak me out that my contacts/appointments were gone when I opened calendar or contacts via Control 2 (calendar) or Control 3 (contacts).? Which just happened, because I opened the default contacts to confirm what content was there, and after returning to the in box, and using Control 3, I was of course in that folder.? I have learned how to switch to the desired folder, and for a while anyway, when I use Control 3, that folder displays. ? HTH Katrina? ? 开云体育We should not accept minor bugs and also be careful when reporting issues they are actual true bugs not how you would like to use the product. If you feel the product could be improved by some enhancement, then call that out as an enhancement not a bug. ? When I'm trying to do something like this, I use something like Google Translate, Worldlingo, etc., into which I paste the source text and out of which I copy the translated text.? The extra step of having to copy/paste the source text is, to me, well worth it.

Also, and not aimed specifically at you, Leo, I really don't want this group becoming the "bash New Outlook" group because, like it or not, New Outlook is going to be Outlook, period, end of sentence and discussion.
?
Microsoft has not been at all unclear about how the rollout of New Outlook was to occur and we are in the period designated in this announcement, , as Stage 2: Opt out.? That means that the default installation going forward (including any major updates) will give you New Outlook as the default user interface.? If you don't want it, then you take the steps to turn the Outlook Classic UI back on again.
?
Eventually, several years from now, Stage 3: Cutover, will arive and New Outlook will be Outlook. Plan accordingly.
?
Microsoft's gonna do what Microsoft wants to do (pretty much as it always has, or at least has for decades now).

Re: microsoft trying to push out the New Outlook to replace the classic in M365
The fact is that up through 2029 (provided it's not controlled by an organization you are a part of) any end user can choose to continue using the Outlook Classic user interface versus the New Outlook user interface.
?
Eventually, New Outlook (with additional features still in Outlook Classic being added in over the next four years) will be the only Outlook.
?
JAWS 2025 is supposed to have scripting to behave better with New Outlook compared to earlier versions.? I am not having to toggle the equivalent of virtual cursor on/off when using New Outlook with NVDA.? Nor do I need to do it with Outlook for Windows, where the UI is virtually identical to New Outlook.

It is not Alt with spacebar to get the menu for closing the pane. As you mentioned in one of your messages, that keystroke will close the application. The keystroke for closing the pane is Ctrl with spacebar and choosing close from the menu. Take care. Brian Lee brianllee@... -----Original Message-----

microsoft trying to push out the New Outlook to replace the classic in M365
Leo Bado
开云体育Hey folks, this have just happened to me after updating Outlook classic. After the update, a dialogue popped up prompting me to restart Outlook for the changes to take effect, and after my conformation, the the interface of the New Outlook came about.? It is just the same piece of garbage, but the weird thing is that I closed the window because I couldn’t move around, as it is usual with this interface, yes I know we must turn on the virtual cursor, but I don want to make an extra step every time I launch my e-mail client.? Anyway, I went to the system Tray Icons, and I noticed that Outlook was still active, so I maximized the window and the classic interface came up. So, all I can say is that Microsoft is trying to push out this piece of garbage, just for anyone here who may find themselves in this same situation and want to avoid this tarnish nail! ? ?
