Re: how to read excel2016 column headers using jaws2020?

If you want to read the name of a column, you can press F5 and go to
that cell (for example, B1). If you mean one of those headers that is
not as easily searchable within the document, I know for Word you can
go to the Insert Ribbon, then H for Header, then E for edit, as if you
were going to change something in the Header, but JAWS then reads it.
I hope Excel would have a similar feature.

After setting up your appointment and then adding all the people you want to invite, In the Meeting invitation, press Alt+X to open the Scheduling Assistant. If you need further assistance, this Microsoft article may help:

I'm new at this too, but I just had some training on the calendar. The
key
f6 cycles between the tree view of all the calendars you can check and
uncheck to show individually, the navigation bar, the ribbon, the
status bar, and each individual calendar you are viewing. So my
understanding is that if you cycle through with f6 and read the
titles, you'll know where you are and won't have to look at multiple
calendars simultaneously.

I am almost certain that I have used the scheduling assistant with JAWS without the need to virtualize the window. It's been a few weeks since I've attempted this and most of the time my scheduling of meeting is with Teams and I can tell you that the scheduling assistant within Teams does work, once you get used to its interface. However, this is only used when scheduling Teams meetings with others which I've needed to do.

Hi Paul. For sure creating groups in outlook can be tedious. Here’s what I do. If I have a group that I post to on a regular basis I create a simple spreadsheet in excel with each persons email address going down the left-hand column. Start at row 1 column 1 and enter each address in a separate cell down the column. Save this sheet with the group name, or whatever you wish. When you want to post to the group, open the sheet and select column A by holding control Shift and pressing down arrow. Copy the selected cells to clip board. Next, open outlook and begin composing a new message. Paste the contents of the clip board in to the To field and go ahead with the rest of the message.

?

Hope this helps.

Using Outlook 2016, JAWS 2020.

I have created groups, however, people are saying it doesn’t work and/or I have had issues adding people to them.

The group is part of a team in Teams so perhaps the team email is the best way to go.

I need to reach this group with information and want to avoid having to remember and add in each person each time I want to contact the group.

Suggestions please.

Re: version of microsoft outlook

Albert,
In the past the Office 365 subscription service, now called Microsoft 365, did provide the same apps as the ones offered by the perpetual licenses. When I first purchased Office 365 many years ago it came with what it reported as being Office 2013. At some point when Office 2016 was released I needed to download a new Office 2016 installer which was compatible with the 365 apps and by installing it it replaced my Office 2013 with Office 2016. At the time Microsoft was claiming that this was one of the benefits of subscribing to Office 365 in that you could upgrade to the newest version of Office as soon as it became available. At some point this changed and now the apps from Microsoft 365 are technically not the exact apps that you get from Office 2016 or, for that matter, Office 2019. The 365 apps will often get new features which may not even make their way into Office 2016 or possibly even 2019. This is one benefit of the subscription in that you may well get new features that owners of the perpetual license may never get unless they upgrade to the next perpetual license build, such as the rumored Office 2022. It's likely that 16.whatever is Microsoft's internal version number for 365 but as long as your Office apps are updating then you can rest assured that you have the latest build of Microsoft 365. If Brian Vogel has anything to either add or to correct in anything that I've written I'll defer to him on this.

Well,

All I can say is I’m glad that using multiple people’s calendars works for some people.

When I open somebody else’s Calendar and navigate between My Calendar and that one, every time I do something like change days in the other calendar I find myself back in my calendar.

This is still the most frustrating aspect of using outlook as far as I am concerned!

If an individual uses a outlook calendar but then someone shares their calendar with them. How does one view their own calendar, with the new persons calendar layered on top? Or what if your looking at multiple calendars all at the same time. Or does one have to view one calendar and then another persons one at a time? This would make it hard to figure out what dates and times would work for a group. I know that other applications can be used for that, but I am also thinking about ease.

Creating a filtering Rule in Outlook 2016 (but applies to a number of versions of Outlook)

Steps for using the Create Rule Wizard, Simple Options, based on an existing message in your inbox.

1.?????? Have focus on the inbox for the rule you’re about to create, then . . .

a.????? First gain focus on a message in your inbox that contains the “From:” address from which you wish to be snagging future incoming messages for processing.

b.????? Hit ALT+H,RR ,U.? [Home Ribbon, Rules, Create Rule]

c.?????? You are now in the Create Rule dialog for simple options, the first section of which is the selection criteria for messages to be snagged.? There will be three checkboxes:

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? i.????? From with the name or email address on the message you’d chosen.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ii.????? Subject contains, with an edit box prepopulated with the subject from that message.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? iii.????? Sent to, with your own name/address prepopulated

None of these checkboxes will be checked.? You need to check any one of them, which can be used in combination with each other, that you wish to use and fill in the edit boxes as appropriate.? For Groups.io emailing lists the most commonly used option is Subject contains and the edit box filled in with the group identifier for a given group, e.g., [office-accessibility], [nvda], etc.

d.????? The second section is for the action(s) you wish to take and is labeled, “Do the following.”? It contains three checkboxes plus additional controls for two of those checkboxes:

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? i.????? Display the New Item Alert window.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ii.????? Play a selected sound. This has an edit box showing the sound file that would be used if the checkbox is checked, a play button so you can preview it, a stop button so you can stop the preview, and a browse button to allow you to select a different sound file

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? iii.????? Move the item to the folder.? There is then an edit box that will initially read, “Select folder,” and the Select Folder button that brings up the dialog that allows you to do just that.? This is probably the most common action taken.

e.?????? After having done your selections noted above, you will hit the OK button.? You will get a message box that the rule has been created and named based on your selection criteria.? In this dialog box is a checkbox, Run this rule now on messages already in the current folder, and if you check this before hitting the OK button for this message box will cause exactly what it says to occur.? If you don’t, then leave it unchecked and only future incoming messages will be filtered.

Hello, thank you for the information on creating a group for contacts.? I have tried the control 3 and it brought the list but, when I typed the H and then C and G all it did was take me to contacts with the first letter of C and G.? I am using Outlook 19 with Jaws 20.. Don’t know if your instruction work with what I have.

If you can let me know how to do this with Jaws 20, I would appreciate it.? Supposing going to Control Shift B, I thought that would allow me to create a Group but, it says no list.Thank you in advance for any help.? Andy and Shubert

I’m lazy.? I type in the recipients of the group I’m going to send to often in a message.? Then I copy and paste the list into a notepad file and put it in a handy place with a memorable name.? Notably, I only do this with groups I regularly send to such as my Board of Directors or staff.

Thank you.

Hi Alan, from Ron Kolesar.

I have office pro 2019.

I jumped ship from Windows live mail to outlook because wlm is starting to crash people left and right.

I still haven’t figured out how to do message rules just yet.

So, everything is still going into the inbox.

If I could get someone to help me to figure out message rules within OL 2019 from WLM, I’d deeply appreciate that.

Ron a long time JAWS user.

Hi Susan.

I highly recommend using the scheduling assistant facility within Outlook. For me at least, I don't care what is on my colleague's calendars, only whether they are available or not. So I no longer need to worry about missing with the calendars themselves. If you also use iOS, and you add all of the people prior to setting the time, the iOS app will tell you how many people are available at that given time automatically.

Re: Office 2019 opinion

The rumor, and that's all it is, is that there will be a version of installable Office subsequent to Office 2019, which was supposed to be the last of the installable line.

It was an offhand comment in a Microsoft blog, not an official statement from Microsoft, and I will believe it if/when I see it officially announced.

Office 365 is definitely not going away.? Office 2016 and 2019 both are under extended support until 2025 (October 2025, I think, but am too lazy to look it up at the moment).

The differences between Office 2016 and 2019 are, for all practical intents and purposes, non-existent.
