Now I'm compelled to reply, again, because Cyrille's cautions mentioned yesterday are very well founded, but it appears that what you get depends on whether the shortcuts page was translated with that language's keyboard in mind versus not.? I find it really odd that French and German are not, yet Swedish is.? Details following . . .

So the long and the short of it is that you need to look at what the actual Notes or Messages section at the top has to say as far as the keyboard layout the document is making reference to before trusting anything in it.

A relatively new member here asked a question about Outlook 2024 (new) the other day, but is using the program in its German translation, and this caused me to start thinking again about keyboard shortcuts being different depending on the language of the user interface.? None of us can be expected to know what a keyboard shortcut sequence might be other than the one we use in the system language we're using, but Microsoft sure does, and documents these extensively.
?
First, if you do a web search of the format [{MS Program Name} keyboard shortcuts] in your own language wherever you happen to be sitting, you will almost certainly find the Microsoft Keyboard Shortcuts page for that program in the first 5 search results, often first.? If I do that for Outlook, this page turns up here in the USA: ?

If you open this page, the full URL is: ?
Notice in this URL that right after the "support.microsoft.com/" there is a 5-character string, with a hyphen in the middle:? "en-us".? That is the language code followed by the country code, and it's always in the support page URLs in that same spot.? So if someone happens to offer you one that's "in the wrong language" for you, you can always hand tweak it.? For example, if you change "en-us," to "fr-fr" you will get the French edition of this page.? If you change it to "de-de" you get the German edition of this page.? There are a few cases, like "en-us," where really language localized pages exist for a given country, but in most cases the language localized version will be for the home country code for the language, so you'll see the country code separated by the hyphen, since France and French are both abbreviated the same way in this context.

Often, if someone gives you a URL that is "in the wrong language" your web browser will end up auto-correcting it as it loads based upon your location, but not always.? So if you end up with an English language page, but need it in another language, it likely already exists.

Daniel, that button is the first one in the Classic (format, not Outlook Classic) ribbon format.? After hitting Alt, V, (at least in English, since View Google Translates to "Sicht," your key combo is likely Alt, S) you can either hit Tab or Down Arrow to drop into the ribbon, then left/right arrow through the controls in the ribbon.? The "Message Preview" menu button is two to the right of the View Settings button.

You can also double check your ribbon view setting as follows:
1. Hit Alt once.
2. Hit Tab twice.? It does not matter which ribbon you are in, this lands you on the Ribbon Display Options button.
3. Activate the button, and you should be presented with two layout options, simplified ribbon and classic ribbon.
4. Gain focus on the one you prefer and hit Enter.
These instructions for changing the ribbon layout work with exactly the same steps whether your current layout is Classic or Simplified.

Hi Brian.
Yes this is it. It is just a little different to reach these options.
Here, when i press the alt key, there are three tabs. One of them is view. There, when it is selected, is a button called view settings. And there are all these different options. So the classical menu is not visible even though i have activated the classic menu bar thing. It is confusing yes but i finally found it. There is like the main category mail and then i can tab once and see all the mail related categories such as message handling etc.
And yes, that was translated correctly. Your german is incredibly good. *grins*

Hi Brian. Oh sorry. I am using the new outlook 2024 as a single component but it normally is part of the ms office 2024. The menu shortcuts don't help since your outlook is in english and has different labels for the features. Mine is in german. Yes that was confusing. I mean the grouping thing. I mean the conversations. All threads with more than one message are in a treeview, which i don't like too much. Are you using the Outlook Classic or Outlook New variant of Outlook 2024?? It has both, and the answers to your questions directly depend on the user interface you've chosen to use.
?
If you are using Outlook Classic, I'd strongly suggest you take time over the next 4 years to work with the new UI as much as you can, and get comfortable with it, because it will become the only option in 2029.

Introduction and an outlook 2024 question
Hello all.
I am reading this list a long time already but for those who don't know me yet, i will post my introduction below my question so those who want to help me, will have it a bit easier. :-)
I have an entire new computer now and also Microsoft Outlook 2024 (no M365.
I am a bit confused because of the way, settings are managed.
But for now, i need help with two things.
1. When i am in the email list, it shows me the message such as sender's name, subject and date. But even though i have turned off the preview, i can still see part of the message without having to tab or something like that. Can i turn that off?
2. I have turned off that feature, that outlook groups the messages but it still does that. Why?

If you mean how do you move around in Outlook when you've got a New Mail composition window open, and not having all your other open programs be part of your Alt + Tab traversal, you don't.? You couldn't in Outlook Classic, either.

How does one ALT tab when you are in a new mail.
Using alt tab and go into claender or other emails.
Is there a setting.

I do the same thing, or I keep focus on the link and use shift f10, the applications menu to find ¡°open¡± , but I wanted others to know it frequently happens to me as well. Pressing enter on the link should
work, but often sends focus to the subject line instead.

I missed the first several messages in this thread, but I have had this issue in MS365 Outlook Classic running Jaws 2025. When it happens, I go back to the email and use the links list for Jaws, insert+f7 and arrow to the link, then tab to Activate Link and it works each time. I only do this with email sources I trust. Put your pc cursor on the betining of the URL or where it announces link
Then press applications key and arrow up or down to open link and press enter.

That usually does the trick, although you may have to fiddle sometimes with where to put the cursor (depending on ?whether it is an actual URL or one shown as a smart link (represented by a word).
