Sorting Messages

Good afternoon,

I have a colleague who has asked me to tell her how to sort messages in her inbox by various criteria. I gave ,,.her the advice to use the keytips (Alt + V followed by A B then d for Date , F for From, etc...). She reports that this sometimes does not work and I am not sure why.

Can others tell me how they sort messages?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Amy

I found an easy way, if you have an e-mail from the person/list serv for
whom you want to create the rule.

1. Open the message
2. Press alt followed by H, then R, then R again.
3. You will see a message something like: "Always move messages from ??"
where the ?? is filled in with the address from the sender.
Press enter if the information is correct.

4. Once you've pressed enter on the above #3, you will be able to choose
which folder you want the messages to be saved to.
The last folder used will appear, but you can either arrow up and down to
find the folder you want, or use 1st letter navigation.

Hope this helps,
Pamela

Hi,
I can do this in other e-mail programs but never learned with Office 365.
Is there a good solid tutorial that covers this.
In fact I just thought that perhaps Brian Hartgen does cover this in his two
outlook tutorials.
But I'll take any suggestion.
Thank you.

Re: What's the latest blind friendly version of the office suite?

Ron,

Office 2019 is the latest edition of Office with what is known as a perpetual license, meaning that you buy it for a one time fee, install it and it essentially works for as long as you'd care to use it. I don't know when the next edition for a perpetual license is scheduled for release but Microsoft seems to release a new edition every three years since 2007. This means that we will likely see a new edition with Office 2022.

Hi

I'm using Outlook 2016, not sure which version of Office as I've had this pC since November 2017, may well be version 2013. I notice that since the update to Windows 10 to the latest version a few days ago, autocompletion of address when sending emails in Outlook 2016 seems to have changed as it doesn't always say anything when I type in a name and address or only says after the first two letters whereas before frequently used addresses said this, especially if people have more than one address, not sure what I need to do.

Thanks.

And one more option (applying to messages from individuals not individuals from lists),

?

On the message with the address you want to add:

  1. Press enter to open the message
  2. Press Control-End to get to the last line in the message;
  3. Press End to get to the end of that last line (not sure why but it seem to be needed for me)
  4. Press tab twice to get to the sender address (the first press of tab gets to the subject line);
  5. Press the application/context key;
  6. Arrow down to “Add to contacts list” and press Enter
  7. Fill in fields tabbing to the next and when finished.
  8. Press Control-S to save and escape to get out.

Brad, your experience matches my own. Teams for personal use is only available as for iOS and Android with other platforms being released later. I have not attempted to set up Teams on my personal iPhone. I have used it for work and Microsoft has done an excellent job with the iOS app in that it is very accessible with VoiceOver. I can only assume that the Teams app for personal use will be similar.

I Have downloaded and installed the Microsoft teams application to my desktop Mac computer. I have signed in using my Microsoft 365 account user ID and password.
After doing so, I receive a message that says in order to use Microsoft teams, I must sign in using a corporate or school account user ID.

I will download the iOS app and let you know if I ?have ?the same experience.

Brad, Microsoft is planning to make Teams available for users of Microsoft 365 subscriptions. I believe an iOS version is now available but the Windows version is still not available for those users.

Microsoft Teams may also qualify. It’s definitely part of Microsoft 365, which is the successor to Office 365.

I think that’s it.

Microsoft Edge is a web-browser, but not an Office component.

Google Chrome is not even a Microsoft product.

Maybe the admin can let us know which MS products are not a part of office. I, for one, am ignorant on this subject.

Hi list

How can I find an extension that my techie installed in Google Chrome for
me? The example, now that Explorer 11 is working less and less though the
feed discovery pulled down still works when trying to find hidden RSS feeds,
he installed the standard RSS subscription one which he says is at the top
of the screen but not sure how I'd get there with the keyboard or can it
also be somewhere under tools, again like in Explorer?

Thanks.

setting up a hotmail account in Microsoft 365

One of my trainees has a Hotmail account. We want to use Outlook in Microsoft 365 to manage it. I easily directed Outlook to the account, and it imported many old messages, but Outlook doesn’t receive new mail. The trainee gets new mail on her phone but not on the pc. My quick Google search didn’t help. How do I fix this?
