¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBrian, reporting back on your recommendations. ? Someone with vision observed as I tapped Enter to open one of the troublesome messages.? JAWS was running.? Of course I heard lengthy silence, while she immediately started reading the message out loud¡no delay in opening the message for those with vision.? Thus, in her mind, there isn¡¯t a problem.? I didn¡¯t remove JAWS, and ask her to observe, as at the point, it didn¡¯t seem necessary since she didn¡¯t observe any problem when JAWS was active. ?Should I bother to share this with JAWS Support?? I mean, doesn¡¯t that infer the problem is related to JAWS? ? Also, I had her observe my attempt to apply the view to subfolders.? She saw my one and only mail account was checked, that the subfolders under the checked account weren¡¯t checked and that the option to apply to subfolders wasn¡¯t checked.? When I checked the latter option, I heard/she saw the option switched to checked.? However, the subfolders remained unchecked.? I probably should have clicked ¡°OK¡± and went back in there so she could confirm what I hear is what she could see¡unchecked subfolders and apply to subfolders option, but that did not happen.? The view appears to be applying to subfolders, so there isn¡¯t a problem; I just find it curious that the list of subfolders remained visually/auditorily unchecked, when the option to apply to subfolders is checked.? Perhaps the status of checkmarks on the subfolders means something different than I am assuming. ?Again, just pondering. ? Katrina ? Good idea. ?Unfortunately, sighted help is quite rare these days.? Someone is going to stop by next Thursday to assist with a medical issue; I will try to remember to ask if they have time to examine the screen when opening troublesome messages.? Or, I might be able to convince Microsoft to connect and look. ? Katrina From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Brian Vogel via groups.io ? - A worthwhile additional test is to enlist sighted assistance and see if the behavior persists when no screen reader is in use.? If it does, then it's definitely something with Outlook.? If it doesn't, it could be Outlook, the screen reader, or interaction side effects between the two. ? It's also worth knowing whether anything appears to be occurring visually, and I do mean anything other than a freeze, when that lag is occurring with a screen reader active. ? The use of a screen reader results in what Joseph Lee so aptly named "information blackout" in many instances because a screen reader has focus in one location at any given moment in time.? It doesn't "split attention" the way someone just looking at a screen can and does, so sometimes something's happening that is "invisible" to the screen reader since that's not where its focus is at the time it's happening. -- Brian? ¡¤ ¡á? ¡¤ ???? ¡¤ ?Virginia, USA?- Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100; M365 Family; Android 13 (Xiaomi HyperOS 1.0.10.0) It is much easier to be critical than to be correct. ?????? ~ Benjamin Disraeli, 1804-1881 |
