Re: Henry's current transformer problem

Re: Henry's current transformer problem
Henry,
Take the message that the vendor gave you, forward it to another vendor, and see if they can help..specifically if the second vendor might be one of their competitors. References: SPICE Models -- Sample Circuits -- Transformer Modeling --Thesis Papers W. Warren |
Re: Henry's current transformer problem
John
Thank you for your comment. The manufacturer says that they cannot give me information on the core material. They have said though that the one we are using has a high permeability core designed for low frequency. Also that it consists of 80% Nickel. The one we are using is susceptible to damage due to shock and an alternive they have suggested (for which there seems to be no difference in the overall CT specification - I am trying to clarify) is susceptible to rust! So what would be your best guess for a typical material so that I can enter its characteristics into my simulations? Thanks and Regards Henry Kafeman |

Hello PhB,
After you have installed the latest version of Lazarus, double-click on SchBuilder.lpr to open the project. I realize that my previous description of the problem is not correct. In fact when I run Schbuilder I can red in "Config" Panel: "(config file not found, using default " "ERROR: LTspice symbol folder not found! "! " The file SchBuilder;cfg is in SchBuilder;exe folder. Hello Analogspiceman
Thanks for answering. Does it mean you fouind a problem with W10? By the way I thought about an "improvement". Would it be hard to add a little bit of wire at each componets node. That would? allow to use the LTspice function "Highlit net" to see in aglance all components tied to a node. Regards PhB |

The zipped file is not too large for this group, so please see:

SMPS transformer behavior in B-H hysteresis curve
Hi, : Execuse me, May I ask a question about "SMPS transformer behavior in B-H hysteresis curve" ? I had uploaded a picture file at: .png This is due to the ideal to run simulation to show the B-H behavior of a SMPS transformer ,so that I need to know it before do the simulation. But I got the question which I can't understand is that, in the (b) picture it says the behavior of forward & flyback are both belonged to first-quadrature and has the hysteresis which repeats one time while transformer run one duty cycle. The question is the flyback is normally stored the energy in the primary winding while the power switch is ON,then release the energy in OFF duration, mapping to the B-H curve, when energy stored in the peak value, the B-H curve will point to the most right point and run back to left in OFF duration (release energy in secondary winding). But the forward transfer the energy in the same time (ON state), how to describe/explain it has the same behavior of the flyback which has the?repetitive B-H hysteresis curve ? I mean in the forward topology, the flux-linkage of primary and flux-linkage of secondary is direction-inversed, wouldn't it be equally eliminated in B-axis ,how could this be described in the B-H curve ? Thank you for any opinion. Best regards. ? |

Re: "4 GROUP.zip" upload
A few days ago, Jeff asked: ? ?"Is there a "place" that has the definition of all the parameters of components, vto=-3, lambda=1.2e and such?" The Help pages that come with LTspice are the reference for that.? But be aware of a few things: Parameters like this depend on context.? For example, the parameters "Vto" and "Lambda" is used in at least three different places, and might not always mean exactly the same thing.? Also, the "Pb" parameter is defined for normal NMOS and PMOS FETs, but apparently not for VDMOS FETs (which is why you got that error message). The Help page for MOSFETs has two large tables (and one small table) of parameters.? The first table is for NMOS and PMOS.? The second table is for VDMOS. LTspice's Help documentation is somewhat lacking.? It has not evolved at the same rate that LTspice itself has, so many things are omitted or not correctly documented there. The LTwiki () helps fill in many of the Help pages' missing pieces. Most of these parameters that apply to transistors and diodes, are common to most SPICE programs, so the Internet might also help to find their definitions.? If you find something documented for Berkeley SPICE, or for PSPICE, it is *probably* the same for LTspice. Regards, Andy |
