Re: LTSpice Model for Photo Triac - VOM160
Hi Andy, Thank you really for so much patience from you to find explanations. Pls see my upload of the pdf screenshot what I see on my laptop. I don't use? windows explorer but I have windows 10.? I use chrome browser. Also I don't do any settings change on my laptop especially regarding downloads. I'm not good at it and afraid something wrong might happen. I just use default settings. Anyway thank you once again!. I'm learning quite a lot browsing thru the LTSpice Help Menu.? Now I found that the colors of the waveform plots can actually be altered to your liking especially the dark blue ones that could barely be seen on black screen background.? So I got them in pink, yellow, white, etc. , for easier visibility :). Best regards, Eric

Re: introduction of a new vacuum tube spice model approach
Hello Adrian, I noticed that somebody else uploaded a prior 6AL5 tube model.? It would be interesting to compare it to your new model. ---In LTspice@..., <adrian_immler@...> wrote : Hello everybody Be aware of my latest tube fit, a Tungram 6AL5 vacuum diode model, able to accurate describe the "Anlauf" current. Re: Adjusting Bode plot phase
Hi Helmut,
I downloaded the file and the Bode plot of V(z) matches the paper. I wish to generate the EIS spectrum of the ladder and produce a Nyquist plot.? The plot should start as a straight line of unit slope in the high frequency region and then trend to a semi-circle in the low frequency domain.? When I hook the sine-wave source across the ends as I had done in the original circuit and plot V(N002)/I(R11) I obtain this type of behavior, but I am not certain that I can use the input voltage and the output current for this analysis.? Your thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks and best regards, Jerry |
Re: Problem description with ADG511 switch
Hi Helmut, Thanks a lot for pointing out the issue and the schematic example. I could never find it out by myself. As a newbie, I was having issues converting the subcircuit to a symbol too. Also thanks for the GNUplot script, which I don't know how to use at this point but will dig into it definitely. From the subcircuit description of the switch, I could feel something fishy is going on with pin 12, so I connected it to GND once but no luck. I'm glad I didn't solve it myself otherwise I wouldn't find this group out. Such an active community full of experts! Thanks again. I'll reach out if I have any issue in future for sure. Naim P.S. You're correct that they've made the same mistake in all the variants of the switches. I'll inform ADI about that.

Re: Problem description with ADG511 switch
Hello Naim, Hello Naim, I have checked your uploaded netlist. This
model requires a logic supply voltage VL (pin 12) connected to Vdd. It's a mistake from ADI when they made this
subcircuit. This pin is NC on the real IC. Especially older analog-switch ICs
required? this VL for the internal logic circuit of the IC, but not ADG511, ADG512, ADG513. Required change of X1 X1 IN1 D1 S1 Vss 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Vdd Vdd 0 0 0 ADG511¡À5 ; using switch 1 only, VL connected! The ADG511 switches will be on, if IN1 is 0V. If you want it in on-state, then set Vin1 to 0. Vin1 IN1 0 0.0 Rser=.2 Cpar=1p??? ??? ; control pin, 0 V => on, 5 V => off I have uploaded a schematic example using the symbol DIP16, because a schematic is much easier to understand the circuit. ADG511_test.zip Just unzip this file anywhere. You can then immediately simulate my example. Please
report this "wrong" pin VL in the interface of the model of
ADG511DS.CIR to ADI. They may have made the same mistake with all
variants of ADG511, ADG512 and ADG513. The email address is below. LTspice@... Best regards, Helmut Excerpt from the subcircuit. Watch VL(pin 12). Problem description with ADG511 switch
Hi, I have uploaded a file 'Test_switch_ADG511.zip' in 'Files/Temp/' containing problem description with LTSpice simulation for an ADG511 switch. The switch is not behaving the way it is supposed to. More details can be found inside the zip folder in 'Notes.txt' file. I would appreciate if someone takes a look at it. Thanks Naim |
Re: Rectifier with thyristor
Hello Mikos, > At night I was thinking this circuit. If you see this circuit:?
you can see, that the thyristor conduct the negative period, too. In
the LTspice the thyristor turn off near 0V. I read a book, and I think,
the LTSpice don't simulate right. LTspice has correctly simulated in my uploaded schematic from yesterday. You need an inductive load, if you want that the SCR conducts in during the negative input voltage too. You can try this by adding a 1Henry inductor in series to each 100Ohm load resistor. Best regards, Helmut |

Re: introduction of a new vacuum tube spice model approach
Hello everybody
Be aware of my latest tube fit, a Tungram 6AL5 vacuum diode model, able to accurate describe the "Anlauf" current. I have added the 6AL5 model to my tube library zip: The excellent fit quality is presented here: This new model offers you the possibility of accurate simulating audion stages, signal level detection circuits, ring modulators (with matched pairs only) and this kind of stuff. kind regards, Adrian |
Re: LTSpice Model for Photo Triac - VOM160
Eric, I still don't see a "2 input and gate" in a drawing or a filename, so I'm not sure what you were talking about.? I don't see "NPN bjt transistor" before filenames either.? I don't know where you are looking when you see that.? Oh well. Any symbol file (any filename ending in .ASY, if it came from LTspice) can be put into the "sym" directory. ? ? "Bordodynov's file name has ".asy" after it but no "and gate" or "npn" drawing icon before it so I'm not sure where to save that kind of file." Wait -- now I might understand what you mean.? Are you talking about the icons that you see in Windows Explorer?? Ah-ha!? (Light turns on in head.) When Windows sees a filename ending in ".asc", it uses the icon for an LTspice schematic file, which is a tiny transistor symbol.? When Windows sees a filename ending in ".asy", it uses the icon for an LTspice symbol file, which is the AND gate.? This must be what you're talking about, right?? These icons are put there by Microsoft Windows, based only on the filename's extension.? So when Bordodynov's file didn't have the AND gate icon in Windows on your computer, that meant its filename did not really end in ".asy". And -- here's the thing -- that probably means that you have your computer set up to "Hide extensions for known file types".? Bordodynov's file, when it was downloaded to your computer, probably picked up a ".txt" extension (from your web browser), so it was saved as "MOC3083.asy.txt", but Windows hid the ".txt" from you so it looked like "MOC3083.asy".? But that was not the real filename.? In my opinion, this is a really bad feature of Microsoft Windows!? You can disable it by opening Windows Explorer and going to Tools > Folder Options > View, then UN-check "Hide extensions for known file types".? In my opinion, having it checked is dangerous, for all but the casual PC users who don't want to know what filenames mean. If this is what happened, then you should rename Bordodynov's symbol file to get rid of the ".txt" extension.? LTspice wouldn't see it as a valid symbol file unless it really ends in ".asy". Regards, Andy |
Re: Adjusting Bode plot phase
Hello Jerry, I corrected all the reference designators according to the names in the paper and I mirrored the whole schematic for better reading. Please download the schematic again. Re: LTSpice Model for Photo Triac - VOM160
Hi Andy, What I mean is when a file name has the "2 input and gate" drawing before the file name, then what I know is it is a symbol file that can be loaded directly to the "sym" directory.? When a file name has the "NPN bjt transistor" drawing before the file name, then my understanding is it is a schematic file and can be saved under a LTspice schematics folder. When a file name has the " .lib " after the file name, then my understanding is it is the model simulation file and can be loaded directly into the "sub" directory.? Bordodynov's file name has ".asy" after it but no "and gate" or "npn" drawing icon before it so I'm not sure where to save that kind of file. But anyway I'm learning so much from all of you. Best regards, Eric

Re: LTSpice Model for Photo Triac - VOM160
Eric, I think Bordodynov's symbol uses the same technique as one of the two I described. I'm not sure what you say about the AND gate, because none of these symbols had AND gate icons in them.? In any event, like any other symbol, it can live either in the same directory with the schematic that uses it, or in the Documents\LTspiceXVII\lib\sym directory tree. Regards, Andy |
