Kenwood SM-230 Station Monitor

I leave my 220 in line all the time, and turn it on for the first few transmissions from each transmitter so I can see what my signal looks like. (I'm one of those idiots who constantly tinkers with their audio train. Sometimes unexpected things happen...) ? ?I leave it off otherwise to save the CRT. ?Insertion loss is negligible as measured by VNA or watt meter (located just before the antenna).

Well I'm a very lucky boy. I put a wanted ad in a radio magazine and found an SM-230 just 90 miles from home. It was in immaculate condition so I snapped it up for a very reasonable ?350.

I see that it shares a common fault with the SM-220: the plastic flexible couplers split. Luckily these are easy to find on eBay..
