QRZ LOGGING K2B AS Christmas Birthday 2019
3
Heads up... I have had two instances now of someone asking me what is up with this? I don't know. I created a log myself in QRZ and sure enough under Receiver Info the operator is "Christmas Birthday 2019" and the state is "NY"

40 meters 9-11 Sunday Evening
3
I will be glad to pick up 40 meters at 9 tonight. Seems pretty active here in Lynchburg and good propagation. I can hear the station on 7.251 and will try to pick up when he is done on that frequency. Blue Skies! 20 SSB 1PM and 20 CW 3PM Open Now
4
Good morning, I have several other commitments that just came up so I surrendered the two time slots I had scheduled today on 20M (20 SSB 1PM ¨C 3PM and 20 CW 3PM ¨C 5PM). Sorry for the last-minute change but please help yourselves to those time slots. Good luck and Happy 4th of July to all. 73, Jack W4NF

20m CW 12:00-1:00
I signed-up at the last minute to fill the 12-1 slot on 20CW. 38 Qs in 45 minutes. Some kind of loud noise -- not quite QRN -- wiped me out at 12:30, but I was able to make a few more Qs between 12:45 and 1:00. 38 Qs in 45 minutes. Many signals were very weak, even with both both preamps active on the K4. If this evening looks good, maybe I can sign-up for 80CW or 40CW. -- 73, Mike N4CF Louisa County, VA USA Elecraft K4d / KPA500 / KAT500 Carolina Windom up 45' http://n4cf.mdodd.com

40 SSB 9-11 AM
6
Even though I wasn't the first K2B 40 meter phone op this morning, I was still able to make 177 contacts for a rate of about 88 an hour. That rate is down significantly from Day 1, when I ran about 130 an hour in the 11-1 slot. No problems with trolls, which was a nice surprise considering the garbage some other K2x operators are experiencing. ED KW4GF, I hope your wife and your pup recover quickly and completely. 73, Kay N3KN

40 Meters was super slow.
4
I ran 40M this morning from 0700-0900 this morning. It was super slow. Very metered at about 1 contact every 60 seconds. It was nice to only get one DUPE during that session. The band was down. Stations as far away as AZ and PR but that is it. Close stations very hard to hear with weak signals. I run again tonight from 1700-1900. It was so nice to hear the next K2B on about 5 minutes early and she took the frequency and kept the pace going. -- DE W5ODJ John Westerman

40 Meters
My noise level is so high I can only hear the super loud ones, not even normal s9 stations. If some one wants the freq, its open. Sorry

I¡¯m scheduled to do FT8/FT4 on 40 from 5 to 7 pm. It will be interesting to see if the weak-signal modes are productive or if I¡¯ll be joining others in saying ¡°He¡¯s dead, Jim.¡± 73, Kay N3KN

40 this afternoon
40 behaved itself during my 5-7 pm FT8 run. I made 86 Q¡¯s, with a steady stream of callers. Few contacts required re-sends in order to complete and I think only one failed to complete. Several other K2¡¯s were there and seemed to be doing okay too. 73, Kay N3KN

40M CW
FWIW I experienced conditions similar to those described by others on 40M this morning between 0900-1100. The band was very noisy at my QTH. In addition to the noise, QSB was a problem - call would start out strong and then disappear before the last letter or two was sent. There were several times when I considered throwing in the towel but I stuck it through the 2 hrs. I¡¯m looking forward to / hoping for better condx tomorrow! 73, Leon NT8B

New Independence Day Numbered Radiogram? Comments?
4
What do the assembled Virginia 13 Colonies (K2B) Event operators think about creating a new Radiogram for use on or around Independence Day? I propose using "76" either by itself or in conjunction with "73" when signing off from a QSO, e.g., 73 es 76 de K2(X) might be used on CW. Similarly, it could be used on SSB, e.g., "73 and 76 from K2(X) QRZ?" or just "76 from K2(X), QRZ?". The radiogram 76 or SEVENTY SIX would be defined as something like "Wishing you a happy Independence Day this July 4th". I wouldn't expect this to be used in the National Traffic System (NTS), but it could be at some future point. Comments? -- 73, Paul ¡ª N4PD Radio.N4PD@... "A man's rights rest in three boxes. Monday band conditions
3
After I whined a bit on Twitter about how the bands had gone to pot for a while on Monday, I got a reply saying there had been a C-class flare around 1330 UTC. That explains a lot. I don¡¯t want to jinx us, but: On the 13 Colonies Facebook page there has been complaining about the availability and operating procedures of some of the K2¡¯s and most of the special stations. Some of the complaints are just over-eager venting and some can be filed under ¡°talking like you know it all is usually evidence that you don¡¯t.¡± Anyway. Here¡¯s the thing: Nobody has griped about either the availability or the operating procedures of K2B. Sometimes no news really is good news. 73, Kay N3KN

Flare
2
It looks like another flare occurred about 2 hrs. ago. There is plenty of FT8 activity on 6M, so I tried 6 CW with no takers. I'm getting ready for my shift on 15 CW, but right now I don't hear a single signal. Expectations are not high. Chuck K4QS

40 cw 8-9 am

One hour and only 19 Q's on 40 cw. Condx stink. QSB was so bad it was hard to copy a full call plus sigs were weak. Will try to fill a few more slots today. -- George- K4GM
