Logs

How will logs be managed?? Is there an email address to send ADIF files to??

72,

Chuck K4QS

Yes.? That's my yob.
dwright@...
I will merge them and disseminate stats, coordinate with Ken (the boss); handle isolated QSL requests etc.

David, K2WPM

David,

Great.? Would you prefer an upload after each operating session, or one big one at the end of the event?

David - Will we (e.g. you) be submitting logs to LoTW in addition to paper QSLs?? If we are also doing LoTW, satellite QSOs are slightly different (they add the "SAT" propagation mode and the "SAT_NAME" fields.? RX Band, freq are optional). If you need LoTW, one of us satellite ops can send you a sample file to give you an idea of what to expect.??

David,

?

this is what our input interface looks like for SATOPS using TQSL/Logbook of the World.

I have a paper log but I have also been entering in N1MM using the 13 Colonies template (see below image).

In your previous email I know you wanted the logs in Cabrillo format if possible and that is why I went with N1MM. The N1MM is limited to Call, RST, S/P/C, Name (I have been using the name field to input the name of satellite). I agree, that it is limited by “birdwatching standards” it does capture the official exchange for event.

?

Would these N1MM fields satisfy the requirement?

What was done last year for satellite logging?

Steve (KO4ENU):

I used N1MM and hand-massaged the resulting log after the event to send in to David.? I am using the N1MM "DX Satellite" log, NOT their "13 Colonies" log.? I feel the generic DX sat or DX VHF logs give me more flexibility to enter the other station's data (I think the 13 Colonies log is better for chasing 13 Colonies stations).? Do not connect N1MM to the radio - it interprets any frequency changes for Doppler correction as a QSY and may clear the call field.? Before a pass, I enter the uplink frequency (435000 or 145000 are good enough) and the mode (CW, SSB, FT8) in the call window.? During the pass, I log the other station, their grid if they provide one, and enter the satellite and any other info I want to record in the "satellite" field.? N1MM does not output the data in an LOTW-ready format, so some post processing will be needed for satellite QSOs to be logged correctly by LoTW.??

Complicated: yes.? I'm open to suggestions.? I'm familiar enough with N1MM that it's my logger of choice for this use.? Some of the other satellite ops are using other software; ask Ant, NU1U for his ideas.??

For paper QSLs, David should include the satellite name somewhere on the card so the other station can use to get credit towards satellite VUCC, WAS, or DXCC.?

I’m using Log4OM based on the youtube tutorial produced by Ant NU1U. At the end of the event I should be able to produce a .adi file that has the following 8 fields that will satisfy LoTW?for a satellite QSO:
Band (tx)
Call
Mode
Propagation Mode (satellite)
QSO Date
Sat name
Submode (in case of FT4)
Time on

It was my understanding going into this that this was an?acceptable way to log for the event. Please let me know asap if not. Thanks!

I think it's fine Ray, and may be easier than what I am doing.? I didn't want to quick-learn another logging program :)? David needs a usable ADIF file. How we create it is up to us.
