I had lots of DX calling me, off the back of the beam.
Could not make out many of them.
Yeah, I got like 30 countries last year, and 32 this year, but there were many more calling.
I didn’t want to turn the beam, because 99% of calls were from stateside.
It’s frustrating, because I want them to be able to participate.
Maybe a DX window, where some of our ops point antennas East?
But Carl and I each tried doing a DX window, and we each started getting lots of stateside calls.
Despite our spotting it as DX only, and calling for DX only.
And I found lots of Canadians think they are DX…

My budget is zero.
Ken (the boss) takes money from his pocket each year to cover (a) printing all our QSL cards, as well as (b) the web page, envelopes, printing full color certificates, postage etc.
A lot of people do not even send him the $5 he requests.
I always send him $50; I don’t know if anyone else does.
So no, there is no pot of cash.
All volunteers, doing this for love of radio … and love of the USA.

Attached is my log for this year. I worked 20 meters this year an only in the open hours of the late evening and early morning.
Between travel and work I did what I could. While I only did 165 contacts it was a lot of fun. 20 meters is very interesting. I made contacts in places I never have before (north slope Alaska) and many I had but still fun (Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand) and
then much of Europe mostly on the back side of my beam pointing west. It took me a while to realize I could go from S5 to +20 once I figured out who was calling.
This event is a ton of fun. Sign me up for next year and I will do my best to be here to do more time in my seat.

This thread will summarize the results from other 13 Colonies as well as our own results. First, the report from WM3PEN:
WM3PEN was down by about 1100 contacts. We did have 11128 contacts including
2 SSTV with several SWL reports from Louisiana to Spain. This was during 1 hour of operation on July 4.??
85 Satellite QSOs
Our mix of modes was fairly even.
cw: 2,524? ssb: 4,242? digital: 4,349
?
We had tornado warnings 1 day (no touchdowns, but we did have cloud rotation) and band conditions were the pits.?
Total radio blackouts several days for periods at a time. If it wasn't for FT4/8 we would have been off the air completely.
City noise, storms, and bad propagation are not your friends.
?
20 and 40 meters had about the same number of contacts
