Reverting to an earlier update

Hello,
Is there a way I can revert back to an earlier update of Jaws 2023? I just recently downloaded its last update for this version but I prefer its earlier update, but I do not have that old .exe file.

Thank you.

Shirley

Shirley,
?
Vispero/Freedom Scientific has hosted the JAWS previous versions page for some time under it's Downloads hierarchy: ?
?
There is a dropdown box at the top that allows you to select which previous version you want, and right now the oldest one shown is JAWS 10 at the bottom of the list.? Obviously, JAWS 2023 is nearer to the top of that list, directly beneath JAWS 2024.
?
The link currently offered if JAWS 2023 is chosen from the dropdown box is: ?

Hi, Brian,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I did go there. I'm hoping to revert to an earlier update of Jaws 2023, an update from 2023, instead of its last update from Feb 2024. Is that possible? Or would I need to do a system restore, which I don't want to?

Thank you.

Shirley

The answer, really, is "Yes, that's possible," but only if you have the installer for the version you want.? If you don't, you'd either need to source it from someone you know who's archived it, or write to support@... asking for a link to the exact version you're looking to install.? The certainly have these archived, somewhere, but not necessarily where the general public can snag each and every one of them.
?
I do not know, though, whether you can "go backwards" and still keep all of your settings, as I have not tried to do this in so many years that I can't recall if it is permitted or not.? Some installers will detect that you're on a later version and refuse to proceed, meaning you have to uninstall the existing version before you try to reinstall the older one.? Depending on how user settings are kept, these may, or may not, be retained when doing that.? If you contact Freedom Scientific support, I'd ask about that (and please report back on what they say if you go that route).

Hi, Brian,
Yes, that's right. Freedom Scientific support sent me installers for two of the earlier 2023 updates and asked me to uninstall my current 2023 version, without removing any shared component or user setting. So I uninstalled 2023 and installed the earlier version of 2023 and so I have the older version back which is working well,?and it seems all my settings have been retained.

They sent me the installers for the October 2022 and August 2023 updates. The weird thing is that when I first installed the August update, it didn't work as well as before, so I uninstalled it and installed October 2022, which did not work at all for me. So without uninstalling this October version, I just went to reinstall the August update and now Jaws 2023 works well, like before. So I had to install the August update twice to get it to work properly.

Thank you. Have a happy 2025!

Shirley
