De Sergeant Friday I liked Dragnet better when it was on AM radio. Not many will remember this.

Re: SX-110 Crystal Instability
The crystal should be held firmly in place. Sounds like some thing is missing inside the holder.

Re: SX-110 Crystal Instability
Take this with a grain of salt, but I believe I read somewhere that someone has taken these apart and cleaned them, with good results I was researching my SX-62 I was reading up on this, but my

Re: SX-62 FM respons
If I understand the question the double.tuning is at one frequency at the bottom of the FM band.? It seems to me that an IF problem would show up on all stations.? A problem with the oscillator

Re: SX-62 FM respons
I am not familiar with the construction of rhe SX 62 but wonder if it's possible that the rotor is going past maximum capacitance so that it's tuning higher again.? Visual inspection would probably

Re: SX-110 Crystal Instability
Steve--Just double checking-- you get the same reaction from 2 different crystals with the same test setup .. I guess you meant that you have used these new testers on crystals before ? is a strange

Re: SX-62 FM respons
I have an SX 42 that does the same thing. It was restored when I got it, and I've never investigated this issue. It does have excellent FM sensitivity and both peaks sound the same to me on an R 42

SX-62 FM respons
I listen often to my SX-62, almost all FM. ?It takes about 7 to 10 minutes to stabilize on frequency. ?My question is that I have two peaks when I tune (88.7), ?is that sort of normal or was I just

Re: SX-110 Crystal Instability
I am curious too. Old crystals are not hermetically sealed and it looks like it would just un-screw. If it was mine I would take it apart. The old FT-243 crystals were like that and the crystal was

The crystal from the SX-71 did the same thing in the test setup, with the signal generator and scope. For now, I¡¯ve returned the original crystal to the SX-110 and am going through the IF alignment

Re: SX-110 Crystal Instability
Sounds cool! All I¡¯ve been doing here is just the old-fashioned signal generator and oscilloscope method. The resonant frequency is the peak. It¡¯s always worked well for me¡until¡this crystal.

Re: SX-110 Crystal Instability
This is perhaps your test configuration Steve. I have made jigs with the crystal socket and a PCB that then plugs into my VNA. I would think you could make a jog with shielded cables and rigid
