EmilIf the switch still sounds good and you hear a crisp snap when the switch closes then the problem might be corrosion around the rivets that connect the solder tab plates to the internal switch

i have restored an S40 S40A and a S40B. all are EZ restores. first thing to do is replace all the Caps. then check for out of range resistors last thing is check the tubes. good luck the S40B is a

TA1 Terminals 1&2 have nothing connected to them and 3&4 are shorted together. I'll try and find a youtube video demonstrating the HT40 and see if the neon bulb lights on CW. Next week if no one else
