Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
Emil, there must be enough old S-40¡¯s and such around that a donor part should be available somewhere. So for now, jump the switch and use an external power switch.. like you mentioned. Sent:

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
EmilI understand.I checked my stash of parts and I don't have a direct replacement.? I may have a pot + switch that has a switch assembly that would fit your tone control.? That would still mean

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
Don't have any other pictures handy, but not hollow rivets as is often seen. It is the head end of the rivets that hold the contacts. The rotary switch that tone control portion works fine, it is the

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
Looking at the S-40 schematic, the tone control doesn't have a variable resistance.? It is a four position switch tone control with a SPST AC power switch attached.? The half meg tone pot with power

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
I'll try a little solder on the rivets and lugs. From the plug to the first lug is OK. Nothing on the other side, switch is open at the rivet.

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
EmilYou didn't mention checking to see if the ON / OFF switch rivets are high impedance thus causing the switch to be permanently open.? You could connect an ohmmeter to the line cord? plug and use

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
The switch action is erratic. Contact cleaner has had no effect. I could jump the contacts and plug the radio in to a power strip, but if there's an organ donor radio out there with a good switch, I'd

Re: 60A225 power/tone switch
EmilDoes the switch still "click" when turned to the OFF position?? If so, take a close look at the switch solder lugs on the switch wafer.? There should be a rivet on each solder lug that connects

60A225 power/tone switch
I need a Hallicrafters part number 60A225 power/tone switch. That is the same part number for the power/tone switch in the S-40, S-40A, S-40B, S-85, SX-99 and probably several other Hallicrafters sets
