48 Days and counting...
4
PEI DX LODGE 2025 48 days and counting to our arrival at PEI DX LODGE. The five participants (3 hams) are paid up, the check will go to K6LA in a couple of weeks, and it'll be safe travel time for us all. If you've got flu or vaccine intentions, now is the time. It takes a couple of weeks for the full effectiveness to arrive. I'll be doing a Covid 19 booster today (I decided to give it one more hit). No reports of difficult border crossings. You should have your REAL ID and/or US Passport with time to run. I'm still trying to decide what rig to carry for field use. We'll miss you Peter. Ev W6ABM

PEI "Remainder" Payment
2
Ev, I¡¯d sent this earlier as regular email, but it may have gone astray. I just wanted to verify the amount remaining for the Lodge. $916.67 correct? If so I¡¯ll get a check off today or tomorrow. I want to take care of it before I forget or spend the money elsewhere (like on a "Captain Canuck" or (which one?) Toronto Maple Leafs or Montreal Canadiens sweatshirt) Actually the Canadiens were my second-favorite team after the Blackhawks so I¡¯d likely go with them. Mac

RAC Will Not Be At Hamvention This Year
3
Figured they would not be there in protest. Wonder who else will cancel? Mac/wt4bt Begin forwarded message: From: Alan Griffin <marcom@...> Subject: RAC Will Not Be At Hamvention This Year Date: April 8, 2025 at 13:13:58 CDT To: <wt4bt@...> Reply-To: Alan Griffin <marcom@...> RAC Will Not Attend Hamvention this Yearhttps://www.rac.ca/rac-will-not-attend-hamvention-this-year/ RAC ne sera pas ¨¤ la Hamvention cette ann¨¦e For immediate release | Pour diffusion imm¨¦diate April 8, 2025 | avril 8, 2025 At its meeting on March 27, 2025, the Board of Directors of Radio Amateurs of Canada voted unanimously to cancel RAC¡¯s plans to operate a booth at Hamvention (Dayton) in Xenia, Ohio in May. This decision was not taken lightly and was made with deep regret as our members and volunteers always look forward to attending this significant international event. The relationship between Canada and the United States has become increasingly strained due to recent trade disputes and tariffs imposed by the US government. Adding to these challenges, controversial remarks from US leaders, including suggestions of Canada becoming the 51st state, have heightened concerns about Canadian sovereignty. For Canadians, these tensions have had tangible impacts and there has been a decline in cross-border travel and tourism. Pour les Canadiens, ces tensions ont eu des r¨¦percussions tangibles et se sont notamment traduites par une r¨¦duction des voyages transfrontaliers et du tourisme. It is a complex and evolving situation, but it is our hope that we will be able to return to Hamvention in future years and we hope that Canadian Amateurs who do attend the event will have a safe and enjoyable experience. Allan Boyd, VE3AJB/VE3EM RAC President / Pr¨¦sident de RAC RAC ¡°Get on the Air on World Amateur Radio Day¡± Special Event: Friday, April 18 On Friday, April 18, 2025, Radio Amateurs of Canada is once again organizing a special on-air event to celebrate World Amateur Radio Day. Every year on April 18, Radio Amateurs worldwide take to the airwaves in celebration of Amateur Radio and to commemorate the formation of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) on April 18, 1925. The IARU has announced that the theme for this year¡¯s World Amateur Radio Day will be ¡°Entering the Next Century of Amateur Radio Communications & Innovation¡±. Radio Amateurs of Canada is once again holding a ¡°Get on the Air on World Amateur Radio Day¡± special event in which we encourage as many Amateurs as possible to get on the air and contact as many RAC stations as possible. RAC official stations will operate across Canada from 0000Z to 2359Z on April 18. The RAC official station call signs are VA2RAC, VA3RAC, VE1RAC, VE3RHQ, VE4RAC, VE5RAC, VE6RAC, VE7RAC, VE8RAC, VE9RAC, VO1RAC, VO2RAC, VY0RAC, VY1RAC and VY2RAC. Elecraft K-4F

Since I remember a gentle chide from Joe after I unloaded my KPA/KAT 500 combo without offering to send it cross-country first: Do either of you have an interest in a K4F (NON-D model)? Sorry Peter, I can¡¯t ship that far south of the border ;>). VERY low mileage (hours) on it, just much more radio than I need at this point. Will throw in a XV-144 2 meter transverter (unbuilt, in original boxes, still supported by Wayne & crew & the K4). More info if interest. Price somewhere in the $4800 +/- range ¡°depending¡±. DXCC Entity Review
This is from Radio Amateurs of Canada, but we're all involved. If you have a view on the subjects mentioned in the piece, please contact the ARRL DXCC Committee and share your views. John Scott, VE1JS: ¡°The American Radio Relay League¡¯s (ARRL) DX Advisory Committee (DXAC) has embarked on a comprehensive review of the DXCC rules. This will include many items which are of concern to many DXers. The first meeting was held on Thursday December 12 via Zoom. At that meeting members expressed their individual concerns. These included: remote operations; the ¡°Radio in a box¡± system with its possible legal problems; entities that have been inactive for long periods of time for various reasons; and entities that no longer meet the criteria under which they were added to the list. Some of this is summed up on page 8 of the November QST by the ARRL Chief Executive Officer David Minster, NA2AA. Future meetings will each focus on one of the items of concern. We will be meeting about once every three weeks at least until Hamvention happens in May. The next meeting is scheduled for January 9. In order to be certain that your views are presented to the committee, I need to hear from you. Please tell me what concerns you about the present DXCC rules and what changes might be made. If I get the kind of response I would like, I will likely not have time to reply to all of them. However, I will read them all and reply to as many as possible.
