VK2FM, Freddo, and two others from the Three Coffs Harbour Radio Club?
will operate from South Solitary Island (OC-194) during the? International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend, August 20-21.? He says? it's a modest operation due to the weight, space and cost restrictions? in hiring the Bell 206 helicopter for the trip.? It is a 20-minute? flight.? They have received the needed permission from the government? office overseeing the island and have made the arrangements with the? local helicopter company, Precision Helicopters.? The island is 23? acres and is 18 kilometers northeast of Coffs Harbour.? The three? operators will be VK4NGN, VK2VK and VKI2FM.? They will be on the? island starting at midday Friday local time until midday Monday.? The? QTH is the light-keeper's cottage next to the lighthouse.? They will? have a G5RV antenna on HF and 5/8 wavelength vertical for 2M.? They? plan 80, 40 and 20M on HF.??? Freddo has? been on the island many times over the years, "looking after the radio? telephone system with its solar powered battery system," as a? technician working for Telstra.
