Very weird, your email was there and then it wasn't. So had to go into the web-group to respond.

Shoulder doing well. Finished first round of PT (12 sessions) and have been 'approved' by insurance for another batch. Range of motion up to where the doc wanted it, now have to work on strengthening the 'support structure'.

Wrist and hand aches and 'neuropathy?' still present but not as bad as it was. I can actually write fairly legibly.

Now I've got to work on getting back on the air! Haven't turned on a radio in waaaay too long. Not sure I remember how.

Let's see, got to start the motor to drive that sparky thing. Then throw those two big switches...No, No don't touch that thing!!!

Ev, I’d sent this earlier as regular email, but it may have gone astray.

I just wanted to verify the amount remaining for the Lodge.

$916.67 correct?

If so I’ll get a check off today or tomorrow.

I want to take care of it before I forget or spend the money elsewhere (like on a "Captain Canuck" or (which one?) Toronto Maple Leafs or Montreal Canadiens sweatshirt)

Actually the Canadiens were my second-favorite team after the Blackhawks so I’d likely go with them.

At its meeting on March 27, 2025, the Board of Directors of Radio Amateurs of Canada voted unanimously to cancel RAC’s plans to operate a booth at Hamvention (Dayton) in Xenia, Ohio in May. This decision was not taken lightly and was made with deep regret as our members and volunteers always look forward to attending this significant international event.

Cette décision n'a pas été prise à la légère et a été rendue avec un profond regret, car nos membres et bénévoles ont toujours hâte d'assister à cet important événement international.

The relationship between Canada and the United States has become increasingly strained due to recent trade disputes and tariffs imposed by the US government. Adding to these challenges, controversial remarks from US leaders, including suggestions of Canada becoming the 51st state, have heightened concerns about Canadian sovereignty.

Les relations entre le Canada et les États-Unis sont de plus en plus tendues en raison des récents différends commerciaux et des tarifs douaniers imposés par le gouvernement américain. En plus de ces défis, les remarques controversées faites par divers dirigeants américains, au nombre desquelles les suggestions selon lesquelles le Canada deviendrait le 51^e État, ont accru les inquiétudes concernant la souveraineté canadienne.

For Canadians, these tensions have had tangible impacts and there has been a decline in cross-border travel and tourism.

It is a complex and evolving situation, but it is our hope that we will be able to return to Hamvention in future years and we hope that Canadian Amateurs who do attend the event will have a safe and enjoyable experience.

RAC “Get on the Air on World Amateur Radio Day�� Special Event: Friday, April 18

On Friday, April 18, 2025, Radio Amateurs of Canada is once again organizing a special on-air event to celebrate World Amateur Radio Day.

Every year on April 18, Radio Amateurs worldwide take to the airwaves in celebration of Amateur Radio and to commemorate the formation of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) on April 18, 1925.

The IARU has announced that the theme for this year’s World Amateur Radio Day will be ��Entering the Next Century of Amateur Radio Communications & Innovation��.
Radio Amateurs of Canada is once again holding a ��Get on the Air on World Amateur Radio Day�� special event in which we encourage as many Amateurs as possible to get on the air and contact as many RAC stations as possible.
RAC official stations will operate across Canada from 0000Z to 2359Z on April 18. The RAC official station call signs are VA2RAC, VA3RAC, VE1RAC, VE3RHQ, VE4RAC, VE5RAC, VE6RAC, VE7RAC, VE8RAC, VE9RAC, VO1RAC, VO2RAC, VY0RAC, VY1RAC and VY2RAC.
Those contacting one or more of these stations will be eligible for a special commemorative certificate noting their participation in RAC’s Get on the Air on World Amateur Radio Day Event.
Participants simply need to complete one or more contacts, on any band and mode, with RAC official stations to earn their certificates.
No logs need to be submitted; simply check back on the RAC website when instructed and enter your call sign to download your certificate.

Événement spécial de RAC « Prenez l’air lors de la Journée mondiale de la radio amateur »

Le vendredi 18 avril 2025, Radio Amateurs du Canada organise une manifestation spéciale sur les ondes pour célébrer la Journée mondiale de la radio amateur.

Chaque année, le 18 avril, les radio amateurs du monde entier se font entendre sur les ondes pour célébrer cette activité qui leur tient tant à cœur et commémorer la création de l'Union internationale des radio-amateurs(IARU), le 18 avril 1925.

L’Union internationale de la radio amateur a annoncé que le thème de la Journée mondiale de la radio amateur sera « Entrer dans le prochain siècle des communications et de l'innovation des radioamateurs ».

Radio Amateurs du Canada organise une fois de plus un événement spécial intitulé « Prenez l’air lors de la Journée mondiale de la radio amateur », au cours de laquelle nous encourageons le plus grand nombre possible d’amateurs à se mettre en ondes pour entrer en contact avec un maximum de stations affiliées à RAC.
Les stations officielles RAC fonctionneront à l’échelle de tout le Canada de 0000Z à 2359Z le 18 avril. Leurs indicatifs sont VA2RAC, VA3RAC, VE1RAC, VE3RHQ, VE4RAC, VE5RAC, VE6RAC, VE7RAC, VE8RAC, VE9RAC, VO1RAC, VO2RAC, VY0RAC, VY1RAC et VY2RAC.

Both Federal Parties agreed that Tolls should be removed. Unclear if it will happen by July 1.

We should know more after the Canadian National Elections at the end of April.

Since I remember a gentle chide from Joe after I unloaded my KPA/KAT 500 combo without offering to send it cross-country first:
Do either of you have an interest in a K4F (NON-D model)? Sorry Peter, I can’t ship that far south of the border ;>).

VERY low mileage (hours) on it, just much more radio than I need at this point.
Will throw in a XV-144 2 meter transverter (unbuilt, in original boxes, still supported by Wayne & crew & the K4).

More info if interest. Price somewhere in the $4800 +/- range “depending��.
