Found specialist that I was comfortable with. Very highly rated, all they do is "Specialty Surgery" on joints & backs.
Talked to doc. Good guy and fully informative.
Pre-surgery appointment was a "Go".
Slice and Dice last Wednesday, 6th March. Belated B'day present to myself I guess.
Out of hospital Thursday AM (held over due to possible prostate problems but none evidenced)
PT #1 Friday. "Dancing" with walker (Ha!). Full weight on joint OK, just slow careful going.
I plan to be raring-to-go by end of April latest. At least as far as getting out to some parks etc. to play radio in the sun.
Got to find a "Fancy Walking Cane" for the more formal outings like club meetings, and to whack those who don't move quickly enough...
I have plenty of walking sticks for the more 'pedestrian' usages...some equipped with antenna mounts.

Visalia and The Channel’s is out for this year. Waiting on scheduling for the slice-and-dice on my knee, but it’s going to happen sooner or later so I don’t want to plan out too far and have to cancel.
Maybe next year if California is still attached to the mainland (or they haven’t seceded for self-preservation purposes).
I’ll keep you all updated as things progress.

I called Ken to talk about 2025 dates.
Two sets of 2-week dates we're looking at:
SET 1: ?? July 2-14, 2025
SET 2:??? July 23-August 4, 2025
He is working to qualify for WRTC 2026.? He will know by the end of this year if he succeeds. This is what
was holding up his response.
IF HE DOES QUALIFY...the first set of dates won't work but the second set will (July 23-August 4).
IF HE DOES NOT QUALIFY...the first set will work but the second set will not (July 2-14).
We're into a waiting game. We have first call on one set of two weeks as above.

At this point either week works AOK. 1st week has IARU HF World on the week end (7/12 - 7/13, 24 hours starting 1200Z) 2nd option week end has RSGB IOTA Contest (7/26 - 7/27, 24 hours?starting 1200Z) if anyone wanted to join the fray. Lots of lighthouses and Provincial Parks to activate in any event!
I will discuss options with Lynn and see where it goes for us.
