Re: Member directory permissions

They have (or most have) already done that. I enabled both directory and member list to members but members don¡¯t have access to either. My understanding from the manual is if they could access it would be on the left side on the groups main web page. Is the link somewhere else??
?Thanks!

Whoops!! It said created and I figured it meant created in . Our group is older than that so I don¡¯t know what that refers to. I¡¯ll check with, other members of our group.

Thanks, Christos.

It wasn't a feature when you asked, it is now.? If you had read, and followed, the information that has been included in the replies to your topic, you'd have seen /g/Group_Help/message/7775, which tells you that a change was made to the site to allow you to remove the Join button, just as you wanted.? It was actually a member here that made on the beta group because of your, and others, similar requests.

Bruce and All,

I have always found your and??support immensely helpful. In the last 25 years, I¡¯ve used two such platforms
before joining??and it is by far the best in every way. Every question answered helpfully and with kind
patience. Very glad to have found this platform. Very fortunate indeed!

Please know that it, and you, and others working with you, are greatly appreciated!

I don't recall any site that provides better support.? There are the official support avenues, as well as Group_Help (this group) and GroupManagersForum (GMF) for volunteer support.? The manuals have everything that's needed to run a group (as far as I can tell) and have been updated a lot lately to cover all the changes that have been made to the site.? Many things, such as the discussion that started this topic, are revised by the site owner when it will benefit many/most of the users.? Of course, the priority is for groups that are paying, but at least the free groups aren't subjected to the endless ads that other sites use to pay for the 'free' stuff.? Try accessing the owner of any other site to see if changes can be made ( and when) to see how difficult it is, then you'll appreciate Groups.io even more.? Complaining about this site certainly won't get you much respect around here!

That's pretty much standard on any type of site.? The site determines what you can or can't do.? Otherwise the site might change daily, depending on the mood of the users.? You always have the option of upgrading your group to Enterprise so you have more control.
...we need to use until we find a better option.
Good luck with that.? Finding anything better, especially for free, is going to be a real challenge!

On the main page we have a TO JOIN notice to send an email with certain info. They will then be sent an invitation thru .?

To be honest we can¡¯t stand the manual/help.? Nobody in our group ? knows how to do anything with , nothing is easy to learn or follow. And things like this where decides what we can and can¡¯t do on our main page. Somebody is exploring other options but we need to use until we find a better option.

David -- At some point, username @ destacgroup.de may have been a valid email address, and the domain was later abandoned. I guess it could also happen by some convoluted sequence of Direct Add and social media login, although I cannot fathom how he would ever set a password.
?
In any event, as long as the same subscriber can manage to stay logged in, he can continue to send messages using that email address by composing them on the web interface. The frustrating thing is - without any valid email address on file - there's no way for anyone to contact him privately. Something would have to be posted to the group itself, which isn't exactly optimal.
?
Three suggestions:
-- Contact the group admins yourself, explain your hardship, and petition them to kick the guy off the group. (They won't be able to explain why, but too bad.)
-- Get a new email address yourself, with a new provider who doesn't do nameserver lookups, or
-- Switch to digest delivery in that group (so the From: line contains the groups.io domain instead).
?
I hope one of those helps.

Thanks for weighing in, Mike. Generally, if you copy/paste anything that's html (as opposed to plain text), you're at risk that it won't play nicely in dark mode. Inline styles and blocks are especially a problem, as they may override the default text colors.

bounce and non-existent domain

I have a recurring problem where messages from a particular user get bounced and if enough of those happen, my account gets put into bounce status. (The bounces are not with my ISP but from a third party they hired to filter incoming email: Vade Secure.)

Not having any actual messages from that user I had to get his email address from a reply. Checking that shows a complete DNS lookup failure. Whois has nothing on destacgroup.de and ping fails.

Surprisingly, an email to his address hasn't resulted in a failure message. Or a response from that user.

So I am wondering what the problem is. groups.io seems to have no problem with that email address but there is clearly something wrong with it.

Re: New entry on calendar is dark

I too have this problem; it appears to be because of dark mode.

I love dark mode because it is easier on the my eyes, but it does have problems. In this case, I suspect the text should have been made white. In other cases, I note that formatting, such as highlighting, becomes invisible. Also, copy/paste from dark mode often creates problems.

I think making dark mode better would be most helpful, but I don't know how complex that is.
