Pretty sure that’s a simple change in the “Display Name” field under your membership listing:

Delete group email

Merle Slyhoff

Hi. Hoping someone here can help.
?
i need to delete the subscribe groups email link from our main page. We don’t want people to use the groups email to ask to join. In the text section on that page we have instructions to request membership and it doesn’t use a groups email alias.I’ve read the manual about 6 times and can’t find how to do that.
?
Help! And many thanks!

Re: Invitations to join not being received

Problem solved. As suspected, the invitation was in their spam/junk folder.
What we didn’t realize is that the invitation is titled “Group Notification”.
Thanks for all your help!

Since both addresses already have groups.io accounts, one way you can "fix" this problem is to send those two a personal email with a link to the group's home page address, and tell them to click the "Join this group" button. Alternatively they can send themselves a blank email to your group's +subscribe address.

At least this way they can be added to the group so you can then do further testing by sending them a couple of group comms and looking at their email delivery history for possible clues, so when the time comes for the actual invites you'd at least know how to handle msn & hotmail addresses.

And it will, as Patrick noted the address of the email determines where it goes.? If they were in the main group and sent a message it would only post to the main group, if they were in sugroupXYZ and sent a message it would only post to?sugroupXYZ.

Of course that only works if one is using the website, if one is sending email there's nothing stopping them from "cross-posting", i.e. including both sugroupXYZ and the main group in the TO: field.?

That's how it works anyway. Just post your message to the subgroup and only subgroup members will receive it (based upon their subscription settings).

Thank you, what I was hoping was that if they were in the sub group when they sent the message, it would only go to the sub group. ?I can try sending a message from the sub group and see where it goes, but since I’m a member of the sub group, I will of course get the message. I don’t have any way to test this.

Well, at least the invitations did not bounce. Successfully sending the invitation doesn't necessarily mean they'll be delivered, though.
?
How long ago did you send them? You may simply have to wait. Many people expect delivery to be instantaneous -- and it usually is -- but there is no provision for that in the internet standards.?
?
It would also be helpful to know their domain names. Some email providers have weak server infrastructure and will throttle emails coming from groups.io until their server load quiets down.?

One of the guys is a member of another ?In that group, his name was spelled slightly differently, so I sent another invitation with that different spelling. Too early to know if that solved the problem.?
Unfortunately, that's not likely to help. Display Name can vary from group to group, it's the email address that matters.?
?
Good luck,
Bruce

That means that it was sent (and received) by whatever address you used.? Why they didn't see it is something they'll need to dig into.

Invitations to join not being received

Gentlemen,
We just started a 30 day free trial. Two prospective members out of nine in the test group are not receiving the invitation to join email.
One is already a member of an established ?group. He is using the identical email address ending in @msn.com.
Second member uses @hotmail.com.
Both individuals have double checked email spelling, and both report that the invitations are not going to their spam or junk files.
We have 200 members, and cannot accept a failure rate of 20%.
Hope you have a simple fix!
Thanks,
Chris Garbow
