Fastmail Delivery Problems
There were some problems earlier at Fastmail.com, a mail service provider.? Even after Fastmail has cured whatever issues they may have had on their end, it appears that Groups.io is still not attempting to deliver to Fastmail.? Is there a way to request that Groups.io remove whatever block they have in place on attempted deliveries to Fastmail??? |

How to handle subgroup of users within a group?
Hello,
I am new to administering groups. I want to set up one for a local community I am helping organize. The community has many members, and I created "[email protected]" which all of them can use to communicate with each other. But the community also has a few directors, who do the various admin tasks. I want these directors to be able to email each other, without it going to all members. Should I create a second group called "[email protected]" for that? Or is there a way to create a subgroup within the original one? Note that this for discussion that is somewhat private, so it wouldn't work to just make it so members can filter it out themselves. The directors mails should not be visible at all to members of the general group. |
Re: Group Members not receiving Notifications
Andy
Thanks for the response.?
The answer was clear but all my settings checked out and as I said I receive notifications from the other groups I belong to, just not from the group and subgroups I own. And none of the other group members receive notifications. Therefore I am pretty sure it is a group setting and not an app setting.? any ideas?
?
BTW I did join the app group for future issues.? |

This screen will show you the device/browser combinations you have set up already to receive push notifications.? If you do not have them enabled for the device/browser combination you are currently using, you will see an Enable button. If you already have them enabled for your device/browser, the button will be Disable.

The setting on the Notifications page affects every group that you subscribe to. If you want notifications for messages in some groups but not others, then look at your Subscription > Settings for individual groups and set the option accordingly:

I hope that helps, and for future reference, questions about the app can be raised on the subgroup.

Group Members not receiving Notifications
My group and all the subgroups do not send a notification that there is new messages, not a banner and not even a red dot.

I figured it was settings on individual member's phones because I receive a notification frequently from my other groups but they finally convinced me it was everyone, including me, in the group that was not receiving any notification in the app. NONE of the messages sent to our group are producing any sort of notification for anyone.
?
I have checked all may group settings and scanned this group's past topics and cannot find the solution.
?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Checking non-member visits/activity in the group's page
开云体育Hi Isaac,
I honestly don't know, like Andy I'm also not familiar with Google Analytics, but my educated guess is that it would start tracking activity after it being enabled/installed. Cheers, Christos |

What I read makes it sound like it might be a "harmless" migration, as long as one keeps up with the changes.? I don't know.

I will say that I've noticed Google has a nasty habit of discontinuing some of its features and applications, apparently without much regard for the users who were using them.

I have no personal experience with Google Analytics.

Re: Checking non-member visits/activity in the group's page
Hi Christos, Thanks for the reply, In case of upgrading to Enterprise, I'm guessing only activity after installing Google Analytics would be availble? Also would it be possible to view statistics on whether users have downloaded messages/files from the group? Regards, Isaac |

After selecting the "Update", the only related menu option is More > Delete Message, which I assume deletes the entire message, the original and all edited copies, which is NOT what I want to do. So it appears to be possible only to delete the original copy, not the edits. It does not seem to be possible to "undo" an incorrectly written edit that was sent. (I tested this with a message that had only one edit done to it. It is possible that a message with more than one edit added MIGHT have a way to delete the older edits - but the latest "Update" apparently can not be deleted. Unless there is another way.) :-( Andy I |

If someone makes an Edit to an existing message and saves it, can the edits be undone? Can the edited version ever be deleted?Yes to both. I've done it several times. I don't have the exact steps written down, but you go to the Edit page, select the edit in question, then use Delete This Edit from the More menu. (Also works for wiki pages.) I don't think members can do it though, only admins. Duane -- The Groups.io Help Center includes the Owners Manual and Members Manual. They can be browsed online or downloaded as PDF files. |
Can message Edits be removed? Undone?
Andy
I think I know the answer to this, but am wondering if there is something I missed or is not documented. I am asking from the point of view of a Moderator, but I suppose it could apply to any Member too.
If someone makes an Edit to an existing message and saves it, can the edits be undone? Can the edited version ever be deleted? I don't mean by editing the message again to undo the changes. Will all edited versions be kept indefinitely, or can any be wiped clean? (A related question might be, can the original message before edits be removed, leaving only the last-edited version? That is, without resorting to deleting the message entirely and then composing and sending a new message.) Thanks, Andy I |
