Yahoogroups claims I have no data???
Cindi,
"Your download request has been completed, but no data of this type isWelcome to the club. That's the answer I have as well. For an account that has been participating in dozens of Yahoo Groups, owner and moderator of several, since 2003. I think it means that their mechanism is broken for some accounts. I don't know what makes the difference between our experience and that of others, who've received links to apparently complete archives. I tweeted @YahooCare (Yahoo Customer Care on Twitter) to see if they could help. I promptly received back a reply directing me to the help page. I tweeted back "Thanks, but that's where I got the link to request the download". No reply to that (yet?). Meanwhile, I obtained an archive of all the groups I'm interested in using PG Offline, So if Yahoo doesn't come through I'm covered. To me, the $25 license was well worth the peace of mind. Your mileage may vary. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

I may have this wrong, but my understanding is that they are just not accepting new ¡°content¡± from users as of Oct. 28th. I think the more drastic elimination (of things like message archives?) happens on Dec. 14, 2019. If I am right in that, you should still be able to download content from Yahoogroups up to Dec. 14. ? ShalSusan, In order to download your groups' data, you must be logged into Yahoo using the Yahoo account that can see all of your Yahoo groups. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJohanne: Here's what Yahoo had posted at: ? Attention: Starting December 14, 2019 Yahoo Groups will no longer host user created content on its sites. New content can no longer be uploaded after October 28, 2019. Sending/Receiving email functionality is not going away, you can continue to communicate via any email client with your group members My interpretation:? As of October 28th, no one would be able to upload "user created content" (meaning photos, files, links, etc.).? After December 14, all that "user created content" will be removed/purged from Yahoogroups. It doesn't explicitly say whether this purge includes the message archives for each group or not, so that is unclear. Even after December 14 it sounds as if you will be able to send and receive messages via email.? As it doesn't mention whether you can use the web interface specifically to send and receive messages the future of that feature is also unclear.? I think it's best to assume that the message archives will be removed, and if wrong, at least you will have your messages on Groups.io (if you choose the migration option), or in PG Offline.? Susan,
I got that same message saying no data available from yahoo andOh, that's an interesting idea. And it might be spot on, as my account's Yahoo Mail address has never appeared in any of my group memberships. When I created my account it was optional to create a corresponding Yahoo Mail inbox, and I chose not to. So maybe I should go join that address to all of my groups, and promote it to the appropriate Role where I can, and try the request again. But seriously Yahoo... If this is correct then it means they searched out content based on the account's Y!Mail address, and not the account ID or any of its alternate (recovery) addresses. That feeds into my bias that Yahoo Mail was the primary cause of most of the problems encountered by Yahoo Groups users. Gerald,
In order to download your groups' data, you must be logged into YahooUnderstood, and I was. It doesn't matter which email addresses you have defined for theDo you have evidence for that, or is it just a logical assumption. I assumed that too, but I was given the "no data" answer. However, I suspect you also must have gone through the "Oath"I accepted their TOS early on, when first required. So that's not the issue in my case. Please let me know what happens. I was unable to add the email address I use for groups to the list of addresses yahoo has on file for me. Seems they no longer allow that. Maybe there¡¯s a way around that though.

I logged in with my Yahoo ID when requesting the Yahoo groups data download. My default email address is at gmail.com
After 8 days, I receive notification that my Yahoo groups data is ready for download today. As far as I can tell, I see data from all the groups I belong to, not just the ones I manage. For those who got no data, perhaps try again? Lily |

Gerald,Logical assumption. How else would Yahoo know which groups to download? I had several identity addresses that I used to sort out emails from different groups. Some were Yahoo and others weren't. That did not cause any issues.??My download included all of my groups that I still belong to. (FYI: The download also included files and photos that were uploaded after the supposed October 28 deadline.) > However, I suspect you also must have gone through the "Oath" ? -- Gerald |
Here's a thought.? I requested the Yahoo download (via Yahoo) which told me my download request has been accepted.? While waiting to see if this will happen, it occurred to me that I don't think it asked which of the 8 groups I'm owner of I wish to download.? So will all the groups data come in together? or will it create an error message such as others have received?? Also, it could be that the Error message doesn't describe the error; it's just a default system error message. Ruth D

The data for all the groups you belong to comes in one zip file (almost 1 GB for me), with sub-folders for each group, further divided into sub-folders for messages, files, photos, links etc.

I got the same thing when I tried. Just more crappy Yahoo system nonsense. I have a Yahoo building near me and you can see all these people in meeting rooms all day. I have no idea what they talk about in there, but it definitely isn't quality standards. I think they just live in their little isolated corporate bubble.

I was logged into the only account I have - my? yahoo address, and had accepted their TOS. However, the address I have on the list is a different one, and I don't have access to it anymore. Could that be why?? What if I go change the address to the current one? Will I then be able to download or is the problem on their end? Cindi
