Yahoo Group DATA Migration

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello,

?

Due to issues with Yahoo Groups, our new BOD has decided to consider moving to this platform, which seems amazing.? I am an owner of the Yahoo Group and all parties agree to archive/transfer old messages to this new platform.? In other words, contributing members (past and present) are aware and agree to this so we are not in jeopardy of violating the Yahoo Community Guidelines.

?

I need to archive all the messages, files and attachments on the Yahoo Group then upload them all to our new group here on Groups.io.?

?

How can this be accomplished, if at all?

?

Please and thank you!

Groups.io will migrate the content for you

[mod note: that would have been true a month ago. Right now the transfer process has been disabled due to some change made by Yahoo / Verizon, see . It is unknown if or when the Yahoo Group transfer function will be operational again.]

Yvonne,

I need to archive all the messages, files and attachments on the Yahoo
Group then upload them all to our new group here on Groups.io.
Except for the attachments, the Yahoo Group Transfer function at Groups.io would have been your perfect answer. Alas, Yahoo / Verizon made some change a few weeks ago that broke it. Mark Fletcher (developer of Groups.io) has been on vacation most of the time since then.

I don't have any idea how likely it is that he'll be able to fix the problem. In the mean time I suggest checking with Personal Groupware. Their PG Offline product, if it still works, can download a copy of your Yahoo Group's content to your computer. There is no known path from there to Groups.io, but at least you'd have a backup.

Alternately, there are applications that can be loaded into the Chrome browser to download your Yahoo Group's Members and Messages, given some technical effort. The members list you can Direct Add to your new Groups.io group (for a $10 one-month upgrade to Premium), the messages are downloaded in a format which Groups.io support may be able to copy into your Groups.io group:
