how do I become an ownerYou should already be the owner of the GIO group that you're transferring into.? If not, get an owner to promote you. On YG, you only need to be a moderator with invite and promote privileges. I know that. However, the owner is unable to get me registered as a member of the group let alone be appointed as an owner. It's a private group. Neither she nor I am able to get me to the status of member. That's the point of the question! Eric

Keep trying. I've just done a test and my Yahoo group functionality is working again. I can change roles and invite members. That was not working at all for the past two days. On the other hand, I don't see why you are complicating things and worrying about your Yahoo group owner getting you registered. Just have the Owner do the invite and make the [email protected]?member a moderator. ? -- Gerald |

It's the Yahoo membership that has us stymied. An invite hasn't been possible since Yahoo insists that I am already a member. But when I try to do anything I am told I am not authorized . . . the stock answer to "You aren't a member."

We just tried again.

1. The group name was gray indicating I am not a member.
?
2. I was told that I didn't have permission to enter the group.
?
3. The owner was told that I am already a member.
?
Suggestions? I have thought about using another email address or asking her to try to delete me and then re-invite me.
?
On top of this, I'm having DSL problems that att says they can't fix until next Wed. Phooey. Some service.
?
At any rate, per 1, 2, and 3 above you can see why we are frustrated. [ad removed by moderator]

Eric -- If I were you, I'd follow Gerald's advice and have the existing Owner send the invitation.I agree. Why fiddle with this? Have the owner take care of the transfer, inviting the Groups.io transfer to YahooGroups. And the owner can upgrade you in Groups.io. Even through I was a moderator, I seemed to not be able to grant moderator privileges to anyoe. I had to request our group owner make me an owner. After that was done, I could grant moderator privilege to the transfer member. ? Caution the same id has to do all the parts of the transfer, you can¡¯t change what e-mail id is doing the work. ? [Mod Note: This last statement is untrue...activities performed on the Yahoo group can be delegated. The transfer agent does not know who invited it or who upgraded it to Moderator, only that it occurred.] ? ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Frances
