Hello everyone

If a user who is not logged in to the web site tries to join a list that they are already subscribed to, using the URL:
GROUPNAME.groups.io/g/join
they are told that they are already a member.

But what happens when a user who is already subscribed tries to join via e-mail, i.e. via sending an e-mail to:
GROUPNAME+subscribe@...

Does it show in the group's Activity log? Does the user get a notification that he is already subscribed?

Just tried this. I thought I would get an 'already subscribed' email, but as best I can tell, nothing happens. No log entry, no response.

So, if an existing member doesn't know that he's a member, and tries to
subscribe via mail, and gets no response, his next logical step might be
to suspect that he was using the wrong e-mail address, and so he then
sends his subscription request to the group's posting address.

And so, today our group got a lot of "subscribe" messages from existing
members who were told (on the Yahoogroup) that they should join the new
GIO group.

It sounds to me like the transfer wasn't very well communicated to the YG.? I think it would still be a good idea to get some sort of reply though.? You should suggest this on the beta group.
