I'm considering a Premium plan. I want the main group to be an announcement list, not a discussion list. I also want to be able to create visible and private subgroups. (for discussion). Has this use case been used much for groups.io? Also, wiki pages and files be private to subgroups?

You should be able to do everything you mentioned.? Each subgroup is a separate entity with their own files/photos/etc., so you can have different settings for each.? The only restriction I can think of is that everyone must be a member of the main group before they can be in a subgroup.
