Trying to add [email protected] membership for a migration yahoo to groups.io...

Edited

It's been two years since I migrated a group from yahoo to groups.io .

Last time (per my old notes from Mark) the procedure starts with inviting [email protected]?to membership.
Then when [email protected]?responds to the invite, make it a moderator.

I have sent two invites in the last approximately 2 days, but [email protected]?has not joined the group yet.

Am I missing something? Has the procedure changed? Do I just need to wait a while?
I sent an email inquiring why no action on groups.io end yet, ?but so far all I got back was
"Your request (9894) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff.

To add additional comments, reply to this email."

Do I maybe have to FIRST set up a group to transfer into on the groups.io end?

Alex -- That's correct.?

The steps must be done in order. The transfer agent is not going to accept an invitation from a Yahoo group that hasn't first requested a transfer.

Regards,
Bruce

I invited the transfer email address to my Y!G group yesterday and got the user back that day.? Had to get the list owner to make it a moderator but otherwise it was smooth.? Not sure what is happening but my money’s on an overload of groups migrating.?

Mark just posted this on the beta list:

"On Wednesday, we had 20x the number of groups created that we do on a normal day. And each day after that has been even more. Our web traffic is about double normal."

I’m very confused right now.

?

I set up the new io groups, paid the fees.

I then sent several invitations from YAHOO to the transfer io address per the instructions over the past few days.? Nothing has been accepted.?

?

The on-line instructions tell you not to start the transfer process until the io invitation is accepted. ?What have I done wrong?

?

Melissa

I feel your pain Melissa.
I too am waiting. We just have to be patient for the transfer to accept our invitations, then wait for the transfer to start going. I believe we have done all that we can do for now.

Thanks to all for the encouragement.? I’ll hang tight.?

Thanks Bruce.

Apparently I should maybe also expect delay due to ?heavier than usual work load at groups.io Due to the rush of rats leaving the sinking Yahoo ship. ?

I'm also waiting for the [email protected]?invitation to be accepted into my Yahoo Group. I created the group on groups.io, then sent the invite from the yahoo group (twice now) and the transfer email has not joined my group yet.

I understand that they might be busy but some kind of response would be nice...?

Did you receive an email that your invitation had been received?? I think this is still automatically sent out when your invitation reaches Groups.io.? You can also check your transfer page as described in other posts to see what the status is.? As has been mentioned, sending more than one invitation can also slow down the process.

I know Cynthia, I am a little nervous. I sent the invitation 5 or 6 days ago and paid for the premium membership 2-3 days ago. Still nothing, and getting nervous as we get closer to Oct 28. I have over 10,000 members on my list and don't want to lose them.

It's been almost 3 weeks for me now since the [email protected]?email was invited to the Yahoo Group and it's still not a member of the group. :(

If you invited before paying, your invitation was likely ignored.? You have to follow the steps in the EXACT order given. See /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

You can check your status using /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups item 11.
