[email protected] not working for me
So, in January of last year (when it was free) I did request a transfer to the i.o. group I set up, did the invite from my YahooGroup, and then never heard back. I wish I'd have followed up then but I didn't. Now I've just paid the $110 (I cannot afford) to transfer my group. I printed out the instructions on how to transfer that are printed here, but once I clicked on Set Up New Transfer I saw that the instructions on the i.o. page say they've changed, so I used them instead. Here's where I'm stuck. Note, # 3 of the i.o. instructions is to send an invite from your YahooGroup. (Done) #4 says, after i.o. accepts the invite, to make them a moderator. The instructions don't say that after sending the invite you're supposed to click on the Start Group Transfer button on the bottom of the page. I did click on it though, because it's there and it "felt" wrong to just leave the page after just sending the invitation, but now I'm not sure that I should have done that. Do you think I've screwed something up? -- deborah -- Deborah |

Do you think I've screwed something up?Deborah -- I don't think clicking the "Start Group Transfer Process" a second time with empty group fields is going to hurt anything. But you can check status as follows: Return to the Yahoo groups transfer page and select the transfer you've initiated from the pull-down menu at bottom right. There should be a status banner at the top of the resulting page. Based on what you've told us, it should say something to the effect of "we have received your invitation and will accept it soon, there is no need to send another invite." If you see that, you're fine. Wait until [email protected]?joins your Yahoo group (you should get an email), and promote it to a Moderator. Instructions for promoting can be found at?. At that point the button on the same transfer page at lower left should say "Give Go Ahead to Transfer." Click that when you're ready, wait for the process to complete, and (hopefully) rejoice. Hope this helps, Bruce |
Thanks for the information, Bruce. This is the status banner I get: I sent the invite yesterday afternoon. By ''It may take up to a week for us to process the invite" do they mean reply to the invite, because I'm not sure from this if they got it. My YG's posting address is evanstonpfwatch@..., so the name I typed in for i.o. was simply evanstonpfwatch. The YG address to subscribe is evanstonpfwatch-subscribe@..., so should the name I gave them have been evasntopfwatch-subscribe? As always, am so grateful for the help. Deborah ? -- -- Deborah |

Based on this banner, you did not send the invitation correctly. As the banner above states, the Yahoo group invitation should have been sent to [email protected]. If you put in some other email address during the invitation process, that's why the transfer agent hasn't received it yet. At this time you need to return to your Yahoo group and send another invitation. Hope this helps, Bruce |

Thank you, Bruce. I'm almost positive I invited [email protected] yesterday, but I just did it again, and YG confirmed the invitation was sent successfully.
?
Earlier today, I invited a friend, just to test the invite process. She got it right away, and when she followed the link, clicked on the purple 'Join this Group' button and then entered the necessary info, I got the YG? new member notification email. So, I'll just sit tight and wait for i.o to respond. Once I see their status banner acknowledge receipt of the invite I'll be able to relax a bit.
?
Many thanks -

Deborah -- It's entirely possible that you did everything right. Yahoo's invitation system is just one of many things that have become increasingly unreliable. I've been there, and understand that this is stressful, probably even more so under the circumstances. Once you get the process completed you will not only breathe easier, but delight in working with a platform that -- for the most part -- will work the way you expect it to. [Not to mention have a support group that is actually responsive.] Regards, Bruce |

Based on this banner, you did not send the invitation correctly. I must have had a typo in the email address I used for my invite yesterday, because I just checked, and my transfer setup transfer bar now says Thank you!-- deborah -- Deborah |
