We're just finishing up customizing our site before info is transferred over from Yahoo Groups.

Question:? When creating a new message (New Topic), the member is presented with a template... there is a blank line for the subject, and under that there is a line to select tags.

With a few folks playing with the site, I'm finding that:

1. They click on the add tag line first, selecting the tag, and forget about adding a subject line (I'm seeing this happen frequently); then when the message is posted, all you see is the hashtag, no subject--not good :(

or

2. They click on the add tag line first, selecting the tag; then they go up and add a subject, not realizing that when they send the message the subject line will show the hashtag first, and the subject second

Anyway to add some discipline here (requiring a subject and that it be entered first)????

As far as my experience is concerned, I am afraid that the only way to obtain discipline is to very patiently hammer it into your members' brains by way of public instructions and guidelines.
If your list is not too busy, putting members on moderation may help. In this way you can intercept their wrong messages and send them back with the appropriate instructions. After a couple of messages, even the most stubborn ones understand how it works.

If it is of any confort to you, today one of my members posted a message with the correct hashtag but without the # symbol. He did it via mail, I suppose, because if you send a message from the group you can choose from a dropdown menu a set of hashtags with the # symbol.

However, the system let the message go through. So, apparently, there is no need to put # before the hashtag. I wanted to kill myself, after all the instructions sent to members on how to use hashtags.
