Signature

I went into my profile and activated "Use signature for email posting." I entered just anything as the signature and clicked on Save. I sent a message but the signature did not display at the bottom of the email message I got. Am I incorrectly interpreting what the "Use signature for email posting" is?

I just tested this and it worked for me.? The signature that I have set for the test group was included in the email I got, just above the Groups.io Links section, as well as on the group posting online.

Interesting. Before I sent the message I went to the settings to make sure I had clicked on the save button. I had. I'll try it again.

I just tried it again and verified what I had entered as a test signature is still there. It still does not work. I am using an older version of Thunderbird, ver 3.0.3. I made sure I had the View on messages set to html. Could it be because it is an older version (very old) of Thunderbird?

It's not enough to save it, you have to authorize it, too.

Click on one or more of the checkboxes above the sig line ("user signature for web/email posting").

Oops...sorry...missed your initial message in this thread where you said you did that. Please double-check it, though.

Quick note: I don't know if this is the problem here, but sigs in an email response to a prior message will be swept into the ellipses of the prior message and not seen in the web archive unless the ellipses are clicked on. Email sigs will show up only in an original message. For them to show up in a response, you would have to carefully edit the message to trim the prior post etc.

J,
I am looking at the test email message I get, not the web archive. Thanks for this pointer and making me aware of what I need to do for a response. I always like to respond with the prior post in the message, and so it appears the signature capability would be of no value to me.
