Sending messages to pending members

We routinely ask for a few pieces of additional information from applicants before approving a join request.? In the past I've sent these requests for information directly to the applicants, from my personal email account.? I just realized today that, for pending members, one of my options is "Send message." ? "Huzzah!" I thought.? I promptly used this feature with our two newest applicants to request additional info.... but now I realize that (a) I have no idea how to find/view these sent messages, and (b) if they "Reply" to those messages, I have no idea what email address their replies will go to!? Help?
Thanks -- Michele |
I've been doing the same, but I do see that the "from" address in these emails is the group owner's address ([email protected]). If you are the group owner, and they reply to said message, you should be getting a reply sent to your personal email address (the address you used when you started the group).?? So far I've only used that "send email" twice, and both times I have not received a reply.? I did check on our old group's member list, and both times, they did not appear on it.

If yes, then why not use the "Pending Subscription" message system which sends a "please provide a bit more information" message to applicants? Replies go to the "+owner" email address which is actually your personal email address but which is hidden from the applicant? Chris |

The notice will automatically be sent to anyone who applies to join your (Restricted) group. See the FAQ at?/helpcenter/faq/1/group-owner-moderator-faq/q-can-i-screen-prospective-members-who?for details. I just realized today that, for pending members, one of my options is "Send message." ? Help?As Pat stated, such a message is usually shown as being from the +owner address. You can instead select your personal email address by pulling down the From: menu in the message composition page before sending. If you want a copy of what you sent, be sure to BCC yourself...it is not stored anywhere in the system. Responses to the +owner address will come back to the group and are stored in the "+Owner Messages" section of each individual's membership record: +Owner messages from non-members will not be forwarded to your personal email address unless you have the "All Emails" radio button selected in your own Subscription: Hope this helps, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

You can select the "From" address in a dropdown list, and you can select a box at the bottom "Bcc: Me" and/or "Bcc: All moderators". Tip: remember to add "PRIV" to the subject line, otherwise it will appear to the user as if this message comes from the group. Samuel |
You don't have to do this.? I found the template for "Pending Subscriptions" under Settings/Member Notices.? Simply click on the plus sign to add a new notice, then select "Pending Subscription".

This looks hugely helpful, and I need some help in applying Pending member messages.
The Pending Subscription message templates are helpful. I copied one to our Pending Message Notice Type and all message types, including the Welcome message, changed to the new Pending Message type. How does one keep each Notice Type distinct?? |

"A Welcome notice is always sent to people who join the group. When the group is created, the system generates a default, ¡°canned¡± Welcome notice. You can edit the default notice to personalize it for your group."
For more, seeChange it back to Welcome and make it active. If you want, add more to the Pending Message. Be sure to click on update. /helpcenter/gettingstarted/1/step-5-create-a-group-guidelines-notice Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki. ? |

Is there a way to delay sending the Welcome notice until after a member is approved? That's already the way it works. Duane -- Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual. |
