Are the privacy settings for google search accessible thru groups.io or elsewhere?? Our chats are members only, definitely not for outside viewing.

It depends on the settings you chose when you set up your group.

If you set Settings, Privacy so that messages are private, they will not appear in Google search or any other search engines. Nor will they be seen by non-members of the group if someone goes to your group homepage. Of course, a member could forward an email to someone else.
