Possibility to merge two email addresses?
On yahoogroups, I had multiple email addresses under my one account. That way, I could post from any number of them and it would appear to come from my primary account.
Currently, I have to have multiple accounts subscribed and have to manage the delivery settings on all of them so I don't get multiple duplicates of my own message in my inbox. Is there anything similar to the way Y!G did this here on groups.io? |

Hi, yes, it exists and is easy to do. I have done it.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýNot sure if that helps address your specific issue or not, but you can set up an alias for yourself.

Yes, Kenny, after I sent my message, I realized that it was a two-pronged issue. (Or is it more?)? Frances /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki /static/help More help: use the search button at the top of the Messages list. |

Chromatest,
On yahoogroups, I had multiple email addresses under my one account. If you want to receive all group messages at one address, but post from others, you can do that with Email Aliases. Under Advanced settings on your account page, as Kenny suggested. Is there anything similar to the way Y!G did this here on groups.io?There isn't a way to receive group messages at multiple email addresses, yet manage those subscriptions with a single login identity, as you could in Yahoo Groups. If you want to gather your subscriptions under a single address you can /merge/ accounts, as Frances suggested. I'm revisiting this because I'm getting some strange behavior. I have three primary email addresses, each from a different domain, all three able to be sent "FROM" from the same gmail login.
Earlier today, I replied to a message on a group that I own and I got a bounce/moderation message for that. The moderation message was for one of my addresses, but NOT from the one that I posted as. I deleted that message and tried a couple more times, making sure I was posting from the correct account. I was. Finally, I tried again and BCC'd a totally unrelated email address so I could look at the headers. The address in the moderation message was nowhere in the headers. More info: The group is owned by chromatest@B* _and_ chromatest@C* The gmail account I'm logged into and sending email from is chromatest@G* which is a groups.io alias of chromatest@B* The account that I'm trying to post FROM is chromatest@C* So, I'm sending an email (a reply to a post) from an email address which is a groups.io group owner using a gmail account which is a groups.io alias of another group owner account. The moderation message is requesting permission to post as chromatest@B*, which is a group owner and shouldn't be moderated. The members list shows it as owner and not NuM. So... does anybody understand what I'm saying here? Any idea how to fix it? Why is groups.io requesting permission to post from an email address that is not mentioned anywhere in the headers? Oh.. I just had an idea. The two email addresses in the header is the @C* and the @G*. The @G* is a groups.io alias to @B*, so maybe that's where it's getting it. But.... what's changed? I've been posting to the list right along and nothing has changed on my end.. Why all of a sudden am I getting moderation messages on myself? |

Okay, now this is really weird.
As I was logged into groups.io with one of the group owner accounts, I posted the message.? This was using the groups.io web interface, not by sending email. I *STILL* got a moderation email requesting me to approve it, which I finally did. Any ideas? |

Chromatest, Why is requesting permission to post from an email address that is not mentioned anywhere in the headers? Because a message from G* (the alias) is treated as being from B* (the subscription address). But.... what's changed?? I've been posting to the list right along and nothing has changed on my end.. Why all of a sudden am I getting moderation messages on myself? That I don't know. Things to check:
A take-away from that list is that ownership of the group has nothing to do with whether message posts are moderated. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
