????? On Yahoo we had:
?
1.? Role-?? Mod?/ Owner? as?the ?last?option?in yahoo ? 2nd? Owner "" cannot delete group"??
???? ?Moderator privileges cannot be changed.?? Can this be implemented on groups.IO ??
?
2.? Can billing - be hidden from members and mods alike as "" the monetary information?should ?not? ?be seen by others""
???? If there is a way -??to hide this info please advise.
?
3.? In sub groups,?? why is there a need for the member to be in both groups?? Main & sub.
???? both deal in separate graphic issues - the posts would be heavy indeed,,?
???? one group is 800 + members??? the other a small group -? 27.? The small group would be deluged with mail..
?

Yes, there are many permissions that can be set (or not) for each moderator.? Rather than owner, you should make the additional people moderators and give them most permissions.? As long as you don't give them "Modify Group Settings" or "Set Moderator Privileges" you should get what you want.

2.? Can billing - be hidden from members and mods alike as "" the monetary information?should ?not? ?be seen by others""

Only moderators or owners see that.? Moderators would need the "Billing" permission to see it.

3.? In sub groups,?? why is there a need for the member to be in both groups?? Main & sub.

Being a member of the main group in order to join a subgroup is a function of the way Groups.io works.? To avoid this, you could create another group for the second, smaller group to make them totally independent.? Members can set their email preferences for each group and subgroup separately.? No need for members of the subgroup to get any messages from the main group if they don't want to.? They could set it to No Email if you allow that on your group or Special Notices if you don't.

As an aside, many of us have created an account for our group that only has member privileges so we can see what regular members see.? This can be handy when you have questions about things like this.

Seems to me it is very dangerous to have only one owner of any group.? If that person dies suddenly, there is nobody left who can do some important things.? I've seen that in Yahoo groups and also in groups.io.? At least it is possible to get help in groups.io which it never was in Yahoo.

I was a member of a yahoo group that lost its only owner and then no new members could be approved or taken off moderation.? In the end someone had to set up a completely new group.? When I wanted to transfer the Yahoo group belonging to our local astronomical society, I found that the corresponding group in groups.io existed because a member, who had since died, had created it just in case.? After contacting Mark and explaining the issue, he made me the owner so that we could move our group over.

The pending death of Yahoo groups is evidently giving the owners of groups.io an enormous amount of work to do, so it isn't surprising that things are taking time.? This is reflected in the activity of this group.? I had 162 messages downloaded overnight last night.? I can't hope to read them all, but a huge Thank You to all those helpful people who answer all those questions.? This is the most helpful group I know.

Peter
