Member welcome

Hi All

I am looking to change the auto welcome that I believe comes out from groups.io vs our group. Have made changes to our letter in settings, but not seeing anything making this one possible. Did a quick search here -- not seeing anything.

Can this not be changed?

Thanks

No, you can only add to it.

Hi Duane

Do you mean adding by sending out our own welcome message (already in place via settings) or is there a place to add to this actual message copied below? Right now members receive two messages. This on and one from us.

If that latter,? I'm not seeing where that is. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Weird.

My understanding is that Groups.io only provides a default Welcome notice if your group hasn't created and made active at least one.

That text you quoted does not look familiar, nor in Groups.io's typical style. Are you sure your groups Member Notices list doesn't have two Active notices of type Welcome?

Hi Shal

I thought I sent this response days ago, but got interrupted and now not sure. Not seen message come through.

I have checked Settings and deleted all other notices.? Have personally left the group and rejoined to test the new member welcome message activity.

We do not require approval for membership, so folks are in automatically.? Upon request to join, this page of the web is immediately brought up.? In our custom message we ask that they fill out their auto signature as part of the registration process. This auto message is end-running our message as evidenced by the number of non-signed posts and emails we get from new members.

Thanks for any further thoughts you have.

Nancy --?If you are requiring people to "fill something out" or "register" as a condition of joining your group, consider using the Restricted method of Spam Control. Otherwise, people who join your group via the web site (and already have a groups.io account) will immediately be allowed in, and be shown that "congratulations" screen.?Although the screen can be fine-tuned?slightly?via changing group settings, there is no way to insert your own custom text.?Any Member Notices you create are sent only by email.?

Once you select Restricted, the button on your home page will change to "Apply for membership" or something to that effect.

Any questions you want answered, or instructions you want sent to a prospective member before they are added, should be placed in a member notice of type Pending Subscription, not Welcome. The Welcome notice will be sent after they are approved.

Finally, be sure to check the Active box for whatever member notices you actually want to be sent.

I hope something in there helps.

Regards,
Bruce
