Invite Function: GIO says "Invalid email address" after invites processed

  • <en5rp@...>: Invalid email address
  • <kirbygray@...>: Invalid email address
  • <w5rex2@...>: Invalid email address
Hello All,
Please Note: The above addresses have been altered to protect the invitees and are no longer real addresses, other than a few letter changes
the addresses are as submitted.?

Using the invite function I keep getting LOTS of "Invalid email address" after submitting.?
Several get processed, some have already subscribed. But, these are KNOWN good addresses.?
Is there a "block" function for the receiver that possibly activitated that previously when being invited? Are their servers blocking it?
Have their emails been reported BAD back to groups.io previously? have they clicked the spam button and kicking back the invites?
It seems fairly random, but very frequent. I have read and re-read the addresses and copied, cleaned and pasted back in with the same results.

Am I getting dyslexic, sloppy and blind? Am I missing something? ?
Or is there something else at work here that I am not aware of ?

Please advise.

Gary,

If the email is by itself on the line, then the "<" and ">" characters must not be included.

Thanks
Toby

WHEN were they known to be good addresses? In the distant past or very recently? If not very recently, you might want to try sending mail to them from your own email address, not from Groups.io, and see what happens.

As of TODAYthey were good email addresses.
Turns out Toby gave the right answer. And I was creating a iD ten T error. :)
If it is an EMAIL ADDRESS ONLY then DO NOT PUT "<>" parenthesis or whatever you call them
if its a NAME & EMAIL then its "JOE BLO <joebloe@...>

Hit me like a bolt of lightning after sending out ?"my problem" to GMF.
And the instructions are right above the email address input field. Sometimes I need a police beacon to get my attention. (needless to say, my websites are quite colorful)

What is a real bummer, I have been doing this for weeks wondering why. And I did not record or keep those email invites anywhere.,,,UNLESS...
The Invite function records actions and errors somewhere?

On the Invite page, it will have a list of invitations sent and whether they've been accepted, unless you cleaned up that page.? If so, you can look in the Activity Log on either the All Activity or Moderator Activity page, select Invited Member for the Action, then Search.? You'd need to search for Accepted Invitation? to see if it was accepted.? I don't believe the errors are logged though.
