Invitations to subgroups

I'm confused about invitations to subgroups. I found an older thread (from last summer), that said you could only invite people to join the parent group.

But I just created a subgroup for one of the handful of Yahoo groups I'm in the process of migrating over to here, and after that was shown a link to invite people to that subgroup. It looks exactly like the invitation page for the parent group, but the links, (sub-)domain, and email are for the subgroup.

So now I'm confused. Is this going to work? Or will people try the link / invite and then get some error about needing to join the parent group first?

Anyone know the answer?

Thanks,
Su

It appears to work. Several of the folks I invited were able to join the subgroup directly - and of course also got added to the parent group.

A couple for some reason didn't accept the invite and asked to join - but those came through as requests to join the parent group. After I approved those, I was able to direct-add them to the subgroup.
