Integration ?

Hello,

I posted this already here earlier but didn't get a reply, so I'm trying
again.

I'm new to groups.io and am setting up a new group. I was trying the
"Integration" with Facebook, but when I paste the URL of the name of the
Facebook group, I'm getting an error that this page can't be found. Am I
doing something wrong or is this a bug in groups.io ?
I tried both logging in to .io with username/password and with my Facebook
account but that didn't help.

Happy Holydays !

Kind regards.

Guido Schotmans.

I'm no Facebook expert, but I have encountered issues with pages that might be groups.? One doesn't work while the other does.? You might log out of Facebook and see if the page still works.

Hello Guido,

Our integration supports Facebook Pages but not Facebook Groups.

Thanks,
Mark

Would be nice if Facebook Page Integration worked with groups. Would love to only have to make one post.

dleese,

My understanding is that it does work, but only with Facebook groups that are public. A Facebook group that is private requires authentication for access, and Groups.io hasn't worked out how to do that.

Thank you Shal, but.......

Our California South Coast On30 Module club group on Facebook is a public group.

That name does not appear to be the name of a Facebook Page is the message I receive when trying a add. Not sure why our group has a number vs. a name.

Dan,
All groups have a number. That remains constant. You can change the name, but I believe only once.

Your group is not available if you're not signed into Facebook.

Facebook groups are the most limited Facebook entity. If you try to load a Facebook group page without logging in, you end up at a login screen. Groups have three privacy settings -- public, closed and secret,? but "Public" it seems is not open to the public; only people with Facebook accounts can access our group page. Unless there is a sub page I'm missing with settings, groups.io would need a account and maybe be a member to integrate.

Sorry for the misinformation. I wasn't paying attention to the distinction between a page and a group at Facebook.

It seems from Guido's earlier message he got the word from the horse's mouth, and it is "no" for Facebook groups. I don't know if that can or will be changed, but that would be a suggestion to take up in the beta group.

You are likely correct that Groups.io would need some kind of authentication (account) with Facebook in order to integrate with groups of any type.

I too would love for a way for this to work, as this is one of the key integrations we need as well.? Iv'e got access to control of the Facebook group, so I could work something from that end as well.

Mine is a page I'm trying to integrate that tells me: The name does not appear to be part of a Facebook page.???Any thoughts?? Tammi
