File Editing very troublesome
开云体育? Hi, everyone, ? sometimes its necessary to edit files or databases, especially now after being transferred. So after I have edited one file out of 400 and click “update”, I?m led back to the first 20 files. Same with databases. I have one database with more than 600 rows. It?s really tedious if you have to edit all of them, and after updating each file you?re back at nr. 1. ? It would be really comfortable if ?the view stayed at the place I am working at, or if at least I could just scroll down the page. Or is there a trick I haven?t found yet? ? Victoria ?

I agree that it does not work well.? the path of edit/update should leave you on the same page containing the record just edited.? In fact, I would suggest that the Update button save the data and return to the page displaying the record, not to any list page.
I have found that using the browser back button a couple times gets me back to the list page I was on.?? I did not see a feature request addressing this issue ->? Might have been discussed before but couldn't find any post about it here or in? Toby |
Victoria,
My trick for situations like that is to open the item in a browser tab (use Ctrl+Shift+LeftClick instead of just LeftClick, in most browsers - specifically in Firefox and Edge). I do that reflexively anytime I expect I'll want to come back to the original page. That way the original page stays open and scrolled to where I left it. When I'm done with the item I don't care where the site takes me, I close that tab and go back to the original page. Perfect for managing items from a list page, or reading references in an article, or anytime you want to go do something then come back. I wish I knew a trick for that on mobile... 开云体育Hi Toby, ? I posted a suggestion on this topic here - ? I’ve completed my amendments of my database for now and yes, I found using the back button did help. ? 开云体育Sue, Duane, Toby, ? I just read this thread in Beta. Sue, you named the problem which I described. And suggestions were made there by Toby to make database search easier –message nr. 16107. I can only agree to all of them. ? In message nr. 16116 Duane writes: ? In your Account settings, under Preferences, you can select the number of Items Per Page - 20, 50, 100, or Infinite Scroll.? Infinite Scroll doesn't work in a database, but the others do.? This also changes what you see on the web site when looking at messages. ? This feature of course would help, but I couldn?t find it. Maybe it?s a premium feature? ? Victoria |

No, this is part of your Account settings and has nothing to do with a specific group.? Once signed in, click on your name in the upper right corner and select Account.? On the page that opens, select Preferences on the left menu.? The 4th item down is Items Per Page.? I think it defaults to 20, but setting it to 100 is the most useful for me (at least when I'm at home with a decent connection) since infinite scroll doesn't work on some items, like databases.? On the road, I try to use 20 to minimize data usage. 开云体育? Oh, wow! Duane, ? that?s great. Always some thing new to discoverJ.. ? Infinite scroll would of course be even better, but doesn?t work, neither with files nor with databases. ? Victoria |
