Is there any way to eliminate the Feed button for my group? I'm trying to control who can download/ read messages and basically anyone can subscribe to the RSS feed and download my messages without being part of the group. I logged out and double checked if the Feed button was still there on my home page for someone who doesn't have a groups.io account and it is. It's a security issue for me.
?
Thanks for any help you can provide

As far as I know, the only way to remove the button is make the group Private/Restricted.

Donna,
?You weren't yet a member. It bounced (did not arrive in the pending queue). ?
?It should only appear if your group has selected publicly viewable messages in the Visibility control in the Privacy section of your group's Settings page.
?If you've selected ?private messages and you still see the Feed link (RSS) you should report that to [email protected] as a bug.
?How about for the Messages page itself? That's the primary thing controlled by the Visibility setting, the RSS feed is supposed to be tied to that. Shal? -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Concern about the RSS feed doesn't make a lot of sense when anyone with a browser can read your group's messages. Go to Admin->Settings->Privacy->Visibility and select one of the "private messages" options. Note this is a one-time decision...once you make the message archive private there is no going back. Hope this helps, Bruce? -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Darn ... I still want people to be able to find it if they search for a group of that type but, since I have it set that people have to apply to join, it's kind of counter-productive to have anyone able to download messages without having to apply. Thank you the advice on how to get rid of the Feed button. YOU may think it doesn't make a lot of sense but it does for certain types of groups. Using your guidelines, I didn't have to make the group private. I was able to switch the settings so that the group can still be located by non-members but the message archive is gone and the feed button disappeared. I understand this is permanent and can't be changed back but it suits the needs of the group much better. Wasn't really concerned about it being found. Just didn't want it unsearchable at all so the settings I have now are perfect ...those interested in the subject matter can find us based on the keywords but they will then have to join to see the messages.
