Establish different owner email address for 2 owned groups
Hello,
?
I'm relatively new to groups.io but and I'm already owner of 2 different sites, and a member of? 4 other sites.
?
I recently started growing one of the new sites, and saw that my email address associated with it was not what I wanted to be so I instituted a change, which merged the sites and now all the groups I belong to or manage all reflect the same email address for me.
?
I would like to have 2 distinctly different email addresses for me associated with the 2 sites I am the owner of.? Is this possible, and if so how would I implement that?
?
Thanks!
?

Yes, it is absolutely possible, after all if you think about it, that's what you had before the merge. That's also what a lot of us do, for group owners it's best practice to have multiple accounts for various purposes, for example testing to see how something looks to a regular member, or have group ownership backup in case something happens with the main address and we cannot access it. An individual can have as many accounts (i.e. email addresses) registered on Groups.io, you're just limited into only being able to be logged-in with a single account at a time (within the same browser session you're currently using but there are easy workarounds, one is to use different browsers, another is to use add-ins like Container tabs so you can use them within the same browser) So if your aim is to "undo" that merge so you can use the old account for backup or let's assume you want to re-associate it so it only shows only the groups you are a regular member of, and set your current existing encompass-all groups account to only show the groups you own or moderate, since the old account you merged from doesn't exist anymore in the Groups.io system, all you'd need to do is log-out of your current account (or alternatively open a different browser) and go to /register and use your old account address to create the new account, then associate it with the groups you want it to belong to. Same process with creating a brand new account, log out if logged-in and go to the register page above and repeat the process. Cheers, Christos |
