Erroneous "Message approval needed" notifications #messages #moderation

As moderator, I keep getting "Message approval needed" notifications for posts from members who are NOT moderated -- that is, they have permission to post and their posts should not need approval.? And when I go to the pending messages area, there are no messages there to approve.? So it looks like their posting permissions are being applied accurately (their messages are being sent on) but for some reason I'm erroneously being informed that they need to be approved.

Is this a bug, or is this something I can turn off somewhere?

First, a question. Do you have other moderators who might be approving
the message before you get to it?

If you're the only moderator/owner, then it sounds like a bug. I think
you can turn off the notification but then you wouldn't know when
there are pending posts that need moderated unless you check
periodically.

Michele -- I agree with Donald...check the activity log to see if someone else approved it.

These notification settings can be modified by clicking on "Subscription" on the left-side menu bar and updating the entries in the "Moderator Notifications" section on the resulting page.

Well, maybe. It's possible that at least some of them were in NMM status and the approval of the pending message by another Moderator/Owner turned that off.

To see how many posts they've made,?open that person's member record and click the Activity History button.

I didn't new that NMM status got automatically turned off!? Good to know.

Anyway, in this case it appears that one of the other moderators got to it before I did and that's why the message was gone, but I'm not sure why the message got routed to moderation in the first place.? Will have to dig into that further.

Thanks everyone!

Check your activity log (Admin>Activity). The log entry associated with each message will tell you why it was moderated ("requiring approval because...")
