Editing a message, has the compose/format toolbar gone away?

Edited

Editing a msg using the iOS App (I have cropped down the screen.)
?
?
I recall that when editing a message I had access to the formatting toolbar. (minus features like inserting an image/attaching a file.)
Before I ¡°go Beta,¡± has that gone away (or is this perhaps another opportunity to call me crazy!?)
?
Thx, Ken

?
You say editing a msg: Do you mean editing an existing message??
?
I see all the tools on my iPhone. See attached photo.
The version number for the Groups.io app is 2.0 - the latest in the App Store.
?
My iOS is 17.5.1
?
I edited Ken's original post with Mod's note ?test in bold using the upper tool bar that shows on the app photo.

Is this group set to Plain Text only? If so, there will be no formatting toolbar.

Just a stab in the dark,

Thx Francis

I dont understand the Mod Edit, but it doesn't matter.?

¡±Yes,¡± f editing an existing message.)
Not sure what other it might be (a non-existing message?), - I¡¯m editing, not composing an OP.?
?
I went back to our group and chose ?a different message of mine to edit.
No toolbar.

I've also discovered - just now - that if the original message was posted as plain text (i.e.: it has no HTML mime part) you cannot edit it to add formatting later. This is true regardless of any changes you might make to the group settings in an attempt to allow it.
?
Makes sense, if a little counter-intuitive.

Bruce
it does make some sense but, of course, a Mod should be able to make that type of change (say Bold the text.)
?
In this instance,?I checked Activity and my original post was via email, apparently from my phone not Outlook (laptop).? Almost certainly using the iOS Mail App, which is not plain text.? However, the message (retrieved from my AOL trash as I had dumped it) is plain text when I open it in Outlook.?
VERY strange goings on, but at least I now know why the Toolbar is gone.
Thanks!
Ken? ??

Email apps/clients will sometimes try to be 'helpful' by showing some formatting in plain text messages. An obvious example is email address that can be shown as a hyperlink when, by definition, a plain text message cannot contain such a link.
