Downloading photos
I'm a new owner at one of the groups here that was migrated from Yahoo groups. I have a question about downloading a photo that is in one of our albums. In Yahoo groups, when I clicked on the download icon, I had a choice to open up the photo right on screen in Windows Photo Viewer or save it to one of my files. In my IO groups, when I click on the download icon, the photo just opens up on my screen, not in Windows Photo Viewer. If I want to save the photo, I have to right click on it and then I have the option to save it as a png? or bmp file. Is there any way to change that so clicking on the download icon will open up the photo in Windows Photo Viewer? That would also give me the ability to save the photo to my files as a jpeg.

开云体育I did find that if I used Google Chrome for my browser to access the group, when I download a photo it allows me to save it as a jpeg when I right click on it, but still I’d rather have the options we had at Yahoo. I don’t always want to save a photo to my hard drive just to be able to zoom in on details like I can when it opens up in Windows Photo Viewer. Thanks, Bruce, for requesting that change at the beta group. ? Annick Phillips ? |
At one time, Mark changed the button to force a download like you want.? Unfortunately it didn't work (actually caused weird problems) with several browsers, so was reverted to its current status.? Right clicking on the photo will open a menu that allows you to save it.? On Firefox, it says "Save image as..."

开云体育Thanks for that info, Duane. Still, it would be nice to be able to open the photo on screen and have the ability to zoom in on it without having to save it to my hard drive first or having to switch to a different browser. I hope they can figure out eventually how it was done at the Yahoo groups. ? Annick Phillips ? |

开云体育I posted a request to this effect in the beta group. As is all too frequently the case around here, it got shot down quicker than a wounded duck...but at least I tried. ? I appreciate your trying, Bruce. A fellow group member let me know that if I copy and paste the photo onto my desktop, my Windows Photo Viewer will open for me to be able to zoom in on the details of the photo and also allow me to save it as a jpeg if I want. I can work with that. ? Annick Phillips ? |
Jim, I am using Windows 10 and Edge as my browser. When I download the photo
using Edge, it does not offer me the zoom function you are talking about. I did find I could copy and paste it from there to my desktop and the Windows Photo Viewer opens up and allows me to zoom in. So I have a work-around. I did try the method someone mentioned earlier about using Chrome and zooming in by using CTRL and the mouse wheel, but that doesn't work on my computer for some reason. 开云体育Tom, Thanks for that help. I didn’t even have to right click on the photo (when I tried it I don’t get an option for view image)….all I had to do, either in Windows Edge or Chrome, is to click on CTRL and + and I was able to zoom…..love it!! Now I don’t even have to copy the photo to my desktop. ? Annick Phillips ? |
I'm glad you found a solution. I've never used either Edge or Windows 10, but

every browser I have used (I have 4 currently installed) allow zooming by holding down CTRL and pressing +, and also they have a zoom function accessed via the menu, although its location varies. Not all mice have a scroll wheel! Jim Fisher On 13 Apr 2018 at 15:49, Annick Phillips wrote:
