Scott,
Ive been using PGOffline to archive messages in various Yahoo groups
for a while already, and when doing a large number of messages the Yahoo
system will cut me off after some unknown-to-me limit is reached.
PGOffline provides a way to regulate the throttle and hopefully extend
that limit.
Does Groups.io run into that issue too when copying messages? Is there a
throttle?
Fortunately with Groups.io you don't need a third-party application to web-scrape the messages for you: there's a bulit-in download function.
On the Settings page click on the "Download Archives" tab. That gives you a plain-text copy of the message archive, in mbox format. That's basically a View Source of all the messages, concatenated together. If you use your browser's Save As function to copy that to your computer you can then open it in Thunderbird or other applications that understand mbox format.
