Cannot upload large binary file

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I am trying to upload a 2.6 gb binary file to the files section of my group.

It fails, in firefox, after a minute or two with a lost connection message in the browser.

On Chrome it fails as well and I see this message from nginx:

413 Request Entity Too Large

I had assumed that I have 20 Gb file space for my group, and I want to use it to distribute? large important file to the members.

Can't be done.? Have a look at /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/working-with-files/uploading-files-and-folders, especially the Note: at the bottom.

Can you maybe give scp/rsync? access the the files folder, or a one-time upload of two large files?

So, groups.io provides some file storage because it helps groups do things. Mine store agendas, minutes, resolutions and that sort of thing in a convenient archive. However, that does not make groups.io a file sharing service and there are many features (like specifically, large binaries) which aren't supported.

What I would do in this circumstance if I was faced with this problem for one of my groups is upload the binary to a Google drive account and then post the link to the file as a message and in a file in the group.

Best,

Glenn

Even Enterprise groups (with 1 TB of storage) are limited to 500 MB file/photo uploads according to /static/compare

This is a user-to-user group, no one from GIO monitors it, so we can't do anything like that.? You do have the option of breaking your files into smaller parts and labeling them as such.

Alois -- You can "upload" a link to any large file located in cloud storage and still have the document appear as a file in the group's Files area. See screenshot.

This provides access to the document without it counting anything against your group quota.

Bruce

Glenn,

My group did the same. Using BOX Storage with much more Gb for FREE.

For an older established group, the WIKI with links works great to list the links to the storage place.

For newer groups, make a message with the links, pin/stick it to the top of the messages and LOCK IT.

Both ways work well.? In any future message, just point to either method for members to access the links for storage.

Forgive me, but I don't feel obliged to promote services I choose not to use.
