Can someone help me with deleting a photo album?
One of our members accidentally uploaded more than 4500 photos to the group's Emailed Photos album.
I can delete the individual photos, but that would take days and days. I can't find ANY way to delete the whole album. There is no "Delete Album" button there. The group is called tubecollectorsassociation. Please, what do I do? -- --- E. A Barbour Metasonix |

When you get fed up removing them one at a time, then I recommend that you revisit your group settings as I suspect that those you currently have are not optimal.?
?
Go to Preferences > Settings > Message Policies and scroll down to Max Photo Size In Email and Storage Limit Reached.
?
I noticed in one of your group messages that you suggested to members that they limit their photos to 1 MB. This is very probably greater than is required and you can reduce the amount of storage consumed per photo using the Max Photo Size... setting. Note that a change of setting will not be retroactive; the size of photos already in the album will not be reduced. Then make sure that the Storage Limit... setting is set to Delete Old Attachments; this will result in "new" attached photos automatically deleting the oldest ones already there.
?
Then go back and delete some more of the 4500 unwanted ones to vent your frustrations. :)

I don¡¯t know your group but how many *other* photos are there? Would it be possible to save those somewhere, change your prefs to Disable Photos to delete all of them (if that works), and then restore the saved ones?

How did the member upload the huge number of photos at Emailed Photos? If attached to a message, could you delete the message to get rid of both the message and the Emailed Photos that are attached?
Just tested and it does delete the topic messages and attached photo. Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help ( /helpcenter ) and GMF wiki ( /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki ). |

Please note that deleting any photo from this "album" will also delete the attachment from its message. If desired, you can automate that via the "Storage Limit Reached" setting in the "Message Policies" block.?

Dear Metasonix,
For over a year now, I have been in the process of one-by-one deletion of message photo attachments goong back to 2018. It is a pain. But with the new interface, easier than before, since you can go directly to delete. In lur group, it isn¡¯t so much the original posts, it¡¯s the 3-5 members of the group who consistently attach duplicates of the original photos to their replies. Grrrrrr. Originally, members just didn¡¯t know, how it worked. When advised of the situation, most have kindly cut way back. The remaining perpetrators just don¡¯t seem to get it, despite sweet beggings and stern warnings. Since it is a paid group, I would ove to consider fining them a dollar a duplicate, or similar, but their contributions to the knowledge base of the group are so important.. .
So, whenever there is a wonderful TV event, like the Olympics or SuperBowl or in the midst if a binge-watching session, I sit down to do a deletion session. Yes, I do miss some of the program, like Simone Biles floor routine, but slowly but surely getting there. I work backwards from today, as there are always new duplicates to ¡°release¡± from the album. Yesterday I deleted 20 copies of the same off-topic dog photo. Grrr. But I am now in 2021. Yeah!
You do get into a flow as you do this; if all goes well can delete a few each minute. The problem I find is when I make a mistake and end up stuck on a photo I don¡¯t want to delete, then I have to go back to some kind of starting point and work my way through to that same page. If I don¡¯t know where I was, it¡¯s a challenge.
Still IO is such a great system!?
Best wishes,,
?

I avoid such issues (mostly!) by moderating attachments. That won't suit all groups of course but if messages have to wait for approval (and then go out with a moderation note along the lines of: [Redundant image removed by moderator.] it helps get the message through.
