Can a remember remove his own posts?? Not finding the answer....

We have a member who keeps bugging the mods to remove this post, remove that post, because they were showing up on google search. (Group privacy settings have since been updated to stop that)?

Can't a member remove his own posts?

Can't a member remove his own posts?

Only if you allow it in Admin, ?Settings.
See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/message-policy-settings?single=true

Disable Editing Messages

?

Select this checkbox if you do not want to allow members to make changes to the content of their own messages in the message archive (that is, after the messages have been posted to the group).

Note:?Owners and moderators can still edit messages that are pending approval. Moderators can also edit messages in the archive if they have the appropriate permissions.

Having had a quick double check I don't think that is true. The ability of a member to delete a message exists even if editing is disallowed as a group setting.

To actually answer the question...

Yes; it's an option in the More (hamburger) menu under each message.

It's not always allowed.? For instance, I cannot delete my messages in group mgrs (this group).
It's dependent on the way the group is set up.
I also cannot Edit my own messages here, in this group, once I've posted and have it approved by a moderator..

Janie,

?

You have to remember that once a post is sent out into the Cyber World, you can not retrieve and delete it. Searches of your group will not find it, but it is in the e-mail accounts of all who received it.

?

Just a thought,

Ken

Odd, because I could edit or delete any of mine here.

As Ken stated, doing so is kinda closing the corral gate after the horses have already gotten out. Although the privacy setting will help, there's nothing to keep other group members from forwarding anything that arrives in their inboxes.

But anyway...

Can't a member remove his own posts?

Yes, as Chris stated...via the More pull-down menu. Unlike Edit Message, there is no group setting to disable this.

Bruce

I would let the person know he or she can delete their own posts and
it's not your responsibility to do so. Also I would let them know you
can't delete them on all the computers where it was sent to as that's
not possible.

Sounds like either this person just likes to make trouble or they
wrote something that they regret. That's on them, not you.

Bob,

For instance, I cannot delete my messages in group mgrs (this group).
If you can't, here or in any group, it is either because you aren't logged in, or are logged in with an address different than the one that posted the message in question.

Look at the upper right corner of the web page. If it has buttons to Log In and Sign Up then you're not logged in.

If it shows your name, hover or click there to see the email address you used when logging in. Compare that to the email address at the very bottom of the footer of any message from the group, next to the Unsubscribe link.
